23Apr24: Andy pulls a fake-out so I reciprocate!

Andy makes a grand entrance. I think he is going to stop.

A little stare-down….

Decision time: Greenies or…

…fake-out! He gives me a lookover…

…then he exits the room.

Silly me! He slips back and stretches out on the lapboard. He ignores the Greenies. And me!

My turn! I bring out the ribbon. When he tries to snare it, I pull it out of his reach and swing it in front of his face.

Oops! Fake-out!

=(^+^)=

Andy’s coat’s at the stage where he’ll mat up without intervention. I snatched Andy off the end table and gave him a top-to-bottom quick brushing. He hated the whole process, of course, but any mat avoided is every mat that impedes movement and comfort that doesn’t form. Tough, my kitty!

  1. Sounds like you could save Andy’s hair and make felt from it, Doug, or have it spun into yarn. I know someone here who took some of our kitties hair and mixed it with alpaca wool.

        • Me, too! A friend gets her dog – Tootsie, whom you’ve seen in earlier posts – groomed by a new groomer and the result is excellent. GOf course, getting a cat groomer is harder than getting a dog groomer. Most groomers don’t like doing cats. Fortunately, I guess, Andy has had excellent behavior reports from every groomer and his veterinarian. The last groomer told me, “Andy is just a good boy, he’s a very good boy!/’

          • Tootsie is a real sweetie! Someone moving to a new ity for a new job couldn’t have pets in their new apartment. They were going to place Tootsie in the local shelter, hoping someone would adopt her. My friend said she’d take Tootsie before she’d let her friends put her in the shelter, and it’s been a good arrangement for both!

          • My friend’s older dog died a few months after Tootsie joined the family, so Tootsie was a helpful part o getting through the loss of Marco, a very nice doggy.

      • Oh, just to clarify, I meant Andy was taking a stroll indoors around your house when he didn’t stop. Our kitties are kept inside but this one guy did still get a huge mat in his fur.

        • Andy and the late Dougy became professionally groomed because of matting. I currently don’t have a groomer, so am paying close attention to Andy to catch mats before they get out of hand. He’s going to hate it but I’ve begun brushing him.
