Andy is pleased with his new scratching post. It was easily assembled, so I really like it, too! The base is really heavy, making it more stable than some cat furniture I’ve bought, and Andy wasted no time trying it out. I haven’t decided where to put it permanently, but it will be someplace Andy can access it more easily than where it is now. 

Andy guards his scratching post from the possibility of a phantom kitty using it. He now has to major pieces of kitty furniture that have never been used by another cat.

Andy saw this part of his birthday presents early because, of course, he helped put it together! I think he likes his new kitty tree. Just where it will end up is to be established, though this spot looks like a solid possibility.

The second part of his birthday gifts is a new scratching post.

Andy spots something.

I don’t see it…

…but Andy is transfixed!

He pounced on it! It was a tiny, black bug – not the one he’s been stalking of late, but a really tiny one!

“Andy, are you sleeping?”

What?

Andy is minding his business when…

…his kitty sense tells him to look up.

“Not again!”

Yes, it is the bug, the one he thought he dealt with a few days ago!

Andy moves over to the recliner to keep a better look on the bug on the ceiling. 

“Not to worry, Andy! You still are my very good little kitty boy!”

The bug stays on the ceiling, denying Andy his kitty fun.

Andy’s birthday’s next Thursday. Ten years old. Gad! A lot’s happened in that ten years, many have passed, including Andy’s brother a year ago next July 15th. In that time, those ten years, many happy things happened, too. In this video, my late brother Dick played with Andy and Dougy. As you can see in the video, they love, love, loved it when Dick came for his annual visit. He was lots of fun for kitties!

Dougy was an enthusiastic box kitty. When it came to boxes, “share” was not in Dougy’s vocabulary!

Summer always brought the fun of watching the birds from the back door. Sure, they could watch birds all year ’round, but this had the added thrill of sound! Andy and Dougy would spend hours at the back door, especially early in the morning when the birds are most active!

I spotted a beetle earlier…

…and pointed it out to Andy.

He patted on it…

…and it fell on the floor.

Andy and  I haven’t seen it since, but Andy keeps looking!
