11May25: after a long, exhausting week…

Andy had a long, exhausting week.
I know what to do about that!
“Want some ‘nip. Andy?”
Sniff! Chew! Sniff!
Wow! That was primo leaf! He’s saving the rest for a nice ‘nip snack later.
Time to relax in the front room. That was great ‘nip!

10May25: Andy on the prey…

It was Andy’s day!
Horns up.
Something has his interest.
It’s moving all over.
There it is again!
Andy’s prey is on the ceiling.
Briefly, it flew into the lamp.
Back on the ceiling.
Well, Andy thought it was.
A short nap.
The prey returned to the ceiling.
Andy checked with me. “Did you see it, too, Doug?”
I had and I pointed it out to my kitty!
Head tilted back to spot where it landed this time….
There!
Andy’s not getting much sleep today!

=(^+^)=

My trip to Rapid City turned out to be fast and furious.  The recall fix took about ten minutes. The round trip took five hours.

Too bad they didn’t have the recall replacement part when I was up there recently for annual maintenance and another recall fix.

On the other hand, I finished the trip by 10:30 am.

Yes, I plan a nap.

09May25: I’ll see you later, Andy…

Andy sensed it.
He offered me a paw.
“Yeah, I’m headed to Rapid City this morning, kitty….”
Andy wasn’t prepared to spend most of the day alone.
I massaged his neck to lower his tension
“You’ll be just fine, Andy!”
“You’re a big kitty!”
BOOP!!

=(^+^)=

Andy’s water and food are topped off.  I will be back home well before he’d need a refill of either. The trip is necessary to have a recall on my care talen care of. I enjoy the trip north this time of year, just as the earth greens up and lilacs are about to bloom.

08May25: must be medication time…

Yeah, hiding in the dark, under the computer desk.
Andy knows what time it is.
I’m ready for you, Andrew.
I’m waiting him out. At some point, he will come over to either the ottoman or recliner. Or not.
I chased him into the bathroom, then pulled the door shut.
I’m tired of waiting for him to move.

On the happy side, by the time I medicate him, the medicine is room temperature.
Caught and held close and tight!
Wrapped!
Medicated and quite unhappy! Good. I’m tired of this game.
Andy spent the afternoon in the south bedroom. I think he is still upset about losing in the medication war. Usually, he looks at me when I call his name. Not this time!

07May25: not so innocent…

Andy looks so sweet in his photos.
Asleep, he is a little lamb!
Yet, the little devil managed to avoid me with great success today at medication time.

=(^+^)=

Andy is a very smart kitty. Every time I come up with a strategy to catch him, he comes up with a way to avoid capture.

A friendly gesture…

…and a suspicious kitty – Andy’s ready to bolt!

06May25: caught in the act…

I caught Andy gazing out the back door from his perch on the computer desk.
He noticed me watching…
…and intensified his gaze on me.
Off…
…he went.
Sneaking passed me, yet caught (upper right) in the full length mirror. I won!

05May25: a slow start…

Andy looked ready.
He was posed nicely.
Well, for one moment he was!
Zzzzz….
We can do a blog photo shot later, kitty.

=(^+^)=

Later….

04May26: lost then found…

Andy was in deep snooze.
I expected him to stretch out on this favorite sleeping spot.
Then…
…he stepped over to the ottoman, where…
…he did nothing of interest but stare at me. Such is one vicissitude of doing a kitty blog!

=(>+<)=

I started to do my post for today but couldn’t find my smartphone!

I looked in all the likely places inside the apartment, then thought it might have fallen out of my jacket pocket in my car. I’d taken it with me to dialysis. Not there!

(Comfy.)

I tried to think of other places inside that I’d been after I came home.

(NOTE: In situations of this nature, you always went places and did things you ordinarily rarely go or do. Always!)

Having exhausted all the likely places, I returned to the place I usually place it, a box with odds and ends of scissors, pens, paper, Scotch tape, a remote for the air conditioner, a remote for the radio, charging cords, AND my smartphone.

I dug through that mess a second and third time then noticed that my missing smartphone slipped over the side and was between the ottoman and the box.

Whew! It is a scary thought what  I’d have to do if I didn’t find it. The first thought was how do I notify you and family that I’m OK when my blog and Facebook go unupdated till I could go to the phone store Monday? And how do I call anyone even then because everyone’s phone number is on my smartphone!? I think I will create a telephone directly, on paper. You know how, one more thing to misplace, but a good idea just in case I don’t lose it and need those numbers.

03may25: upset stomach…

Andy got a day’s rest yesterday.
Not that resting is an issue for a kitty!

=(^+^)=

I think a spicey sub sandwich I ate Tuesday caused me a good simulation of flu. At any rate, I felt too sick Tuesday afternoon and night to put a blog post together. I woke up Wednesday morning feeling a bit worse for wear, too, and canceled a car appointment in Rapid City. I turned up the oxygen to 4, from 2, thinking that might help, and it did. But late morning yesterday, I felt OK. Sorry I missed a blog post.

I managed a cup of tea, a fruit cup, one Oreo cookie. And some saltine crackers for “lunch” Friday, though I should have settled for tea and the fruit cup.

01May25: rose…

The last time the yellow rose outside my bathroom window bloomed was May 2024.
Why? April 2025.

=(>+<)=

Landlords can do what they want with their property, but tearing out the yellow rose bush changed the quality of my apartment from a home to just the place I eat, sleep, and where I store the things too large or too much to put in my car.

=(>+<)=

The quality of Andy’s life was impacted by the rose, too, as it was a favorite place to watch birds up close when they landed there. He will miss that.
