Cat toys don’t have a chance! I try to have replacements for favorite toys on hand for that inevitable moment the old toy reaches its end.
This toy is dead…!
Long live the exciting new toy!
Excitement builds in anticipation of play with the new toy!
(The boys are crawling all over the desk trying to get to the toy, which I try to photograph, then hide from them…!)
Both boys converge on the mother lode: the old toy and the new toy, just there, waiting to be taken!
Dougy makes a move, but Doug (the human one) pulls the toys away at the last second…!
“#*&@^#*!”
Wow! I didn’t know Dougy knew that word! We are not happy!

Our cats’ favorite toy is string. Nothing like a good thick string to chase! Second favorite is the compressed catnip mouse. Only problem with that is when they toss it in the water dish. Makes catnip tea… 🙂
I’ve never seen the compressed catnip mouse toy before. Interesting! I’ll have to see if I can locate a source for them. I bet the boys would enjoy them. (I can see the tea business happening!) Andy likes pens and sticks. When I bring out wand toys, he oftentimes is more interested in attacking the end of the wand than he is attacking the toy itself. I have to work at getting his attention redirected to the wand toy instead of the wand!
The boys looks so shiny and healthy and we know all to well about buying two of everything because just one never lasts long if Ali likes it.
You and the boys have a great week.
I hope they are healthy. I take them in regularly for check ups just to keep on top of any issues they might have. It was during one of those routine check ups that their veterinarian discovered Andy’s heart murmur and blood pressure issue. (Speaking of which, the little rascal gave me a workout this morning trying to catch him, and finally trapped himself under a chair. We had some words…! Of course, he just gave me those kitty eyes, and I couldn’t stay mad at him!
Yeah, that’s the best way to handle toys, isn’t it? I always try to stay at least one favorite ahead of the boys.
MOL! I’ve never seen those toys! Where can they be bought?
Look up Neko toys for cats on Amazon. They probably are available other places, too, but I’ve used Amazon for a long time. There are several varieties of “critters” available and they come in a couple sizes. The BirBug toy by Neko was a hit with the boys because (I suppose!) the toy is about the size of a small bird or large insect. That said, they really, really, really like the littler ones, too! Andy is a shy kitty, slow to join in on play, but the Neko toys bring out his inner cat so fast he forgets he’s shy! I like that because I want him to have as much fun in life as his brother Dougy.
But they’re not small enough that they could be accidentally swallowed, are they!?
I think they could chew off parts and swallow them. I only let them play with them when I’m in charge of the toys, just in case. Also, when they start to wear out, some shed feathers and other parts that I make sure get tossed in the trash as soon as they appear. Toys like the bee are more durable than the centipede (the one shown in the second photo). The centipede toy comes in two parts that are attached securely but which eventually succumb to cat play, The boys do mouth these toys a lot, “killing” them over and over. Though the parts are heavy duty, so are kitty claws and teeth! When they start shedding parts, I retire the toy and place them in the trash in things the boys can’t open since I have a couple of trash rummagers in this house. (So much for good breeding!) Sauce jars and other containers like yoghurt containers with the tight lids work well for this purpose.
Great idea! I’ll get the human too get me some of those!! Hmm – on second thought. Never mind the human – I’ll order them myself! MWAHAHAHA!😹 *(digging out human’s debit card)…
My cats pester me to play with these toys. Dougy is especially insistent, and begins harrassing me to bring out the toys right after he has his breakfast but before I’ve finished mine.
Well of course!😸I purrsonally love to get the human up at 3 am to play – bit she won’t – Flippin uncooperative human!
I should get tips from your human…!
She’ll give them (dang human)!
Well, you know how it goes: I get ahead of the cats one step, they work out two steps ahead of me!
We have toys all through the house Lily is a play in fool
I know how that goes! I find their toys everywhere, usually right where I step in the dark!
I dare say they will get it in the end. What fun!
You got that right! They know where I put these toys so they can’t get them, and they camp out there when they want to play.
Amazing creatures.
They are very observant, that’s for sure…!
hahaha, that is a riot. There are times I wish I knew what my dogs were thinking and then there are times like these… b
It’s probably best we don’t know, eh?! I think Andy would be brutally honest with me, and Dougy would be passive aggressive.
Oh yes, I do not think a cat would ever hold back their opinion. It would be our honor to be lavished with their wisdom.
“Savaged” by their opinion, more likely! LOL!
Let the games begin!!! 🙂
They gave up and went off to take naps. (I should feel ashamed…!)
LOL, don’t worry, they’ll get you when they are well rested. 🙂
True, true, true! They’ve plugged their tails into the wall sockets and are recharging their batteries even as I type!
LOL, should be a good workout, later. 😉
Dougy stopped by for a little loving, but Andy’s still hiding since he hasn’t had his medicine yet.
Pretty cool of Andy to know the schedule. 🙂
I can’t sneak anything past them for long…!
My cats love the Nekko Flies Centipede…great toy!
So far, my cats love all Neko toys. The designers of those toys definitely know their cats! The centipede one shown is the second one of those. The bumblebee one is another big favorite, and they’re on their third one of those.
Will have to try the bumblebee. Neko never disappoints.
It was a big hit here. Let us know how the toy goes over at your house!
