Post 863: Andy avoids his medicine…

“He saw me coming!”

Andy literally saw me coming today to get him for his dose of medicine. That was all it took.

Andy takes up a strategic position under the computer desk. He cann see me from there.

It's a waiting game now. Andy feels secure enough he rests his eyes a bit....!

Andy feels secure enough he rests his eyes a bit….!

Not for long, though. He needs to stay alert if he's to avoid his medicine today! Andy is confident he will win.

UPDATE: Andy stretched out at my feet shortly after I posted this, and all I had to do was reach down to catch him. He got his dose and his treats today after this short drama.

    • The boys actually don’t require a lot of grooming. Dougy’s undercoat is heavier than Andy’s, so I do have to brush him more regularly, but he enjoys it. It’s one of out bonding things.(Andy and I have our bonding time when I give him his medicine. Also, I’ve begun picking him up randomly through the day just to hold him and give him a little loving so he knows it isn’t just a thing that happens when I give him medicine. He didn’t used to let me pick him up without first trapping him in a corner, but he’s gradually getting to let me just pick him up wherever I spot him. Nice!))

      • I can imagine dear Weggie 🙂 There is same problem with yours when we go to the vet… She escapes… she understands that we would take her to the vet… Not being easy to catch her in the home. 🙂 Thanks and Love, nia

        • I usually can catch one easily then the second one is alerted to something being up. That’s the hard one to catch! I try to schedule them both at the same time for grooming and veterinarian appointments, mostly for my convenience, but I have had to reschedule for the one that refuses to be caught on an appointment day.

    • The music was a major attraction for me. I’m a big fan of Miles Davis, especially in the 1950s-early 1960s. One of these days you’ll not be looking for the film and it will pop up on television or some place. It was on TCM channel not too long ago, so probably will be played there again in future.

  1. haha…MOL I know where Andy’s coming from..my sis gets meds…me, myself, never had them. She is good at giving angry looks, pitiful looks and don’t hurt me looks. Makes mom feel like a big meanie! Just the way she is suppose to feel.

    • Andy always gives me these looks of a kitty betrayed, a much aggrieved kitten, a pitiful victim of inhumane trickery. He gets a massage and kitty treats afterwards, so I am not sympathetic….! Ha!

    • Most of the time Andy is a sweet little cat but he has his limits. Taking his medicine is one of them! I think his problem is the medicine has to be refrigerated so is cold when I give it to him. Today, after filling the syringe, I set it out on the kitchen table. The medicine was warmish when I finally caught Andy. He seemed less stressed today than usual so I will consider letting his medicine warm up first in future if that is all it takes to make it OK for Andy. (It is flavored with tuna after all, so should be tasty to him regardless!)

    • That covers it OK! He’s being a > wink < little pill today about it. He's still under the desk but has turned around the other direction so he can shoot out if I try to touch him. This is going to be a long afternoon!
