Andy’s visit with his veterinarian yesterday was uneventful, though his blood pressure still needs a bit of work to get it from the 140’s systolic down to a more acceptable 120 range. His weight was up half a pound (from 9.4 up to 9.8/ 4.3 kilos to 4.5 kilos), a good sign of feeling better. He’s almost back to his regular weight!
He was an exceptionally good boy, gaining him a Greenie kitty treat from the staff when the exam was through! Of course, he got to spend it on a big, soft towel with a technician massaging his neck and face. He got so relaxed, his eyes closed in ecstasy. Being a good boy was a snap!
He also got a hygienic trim on his butt, which will help him maintain a proper kitty boy level of cleanliness.
He has a new appointment in May to see if his medication needs an adjustment to achieve the desired blood pressure level. The 140 systolic range is ok for a cat, just not ideal.
Oh yes, waiting for the exam, Andy met a really handsome miniature border collie, and showed what a well-disciplined kitty boy he is when around dogs. Though he isn’t thrilled to see his veterinarian, he enjoys meeting new cats and dogs in the waiting room.
I am glad Andy is OK! Blood pressure is a bit on the high side, but not alarming. They are not teenagers, after all!
This is true – closer to 50ish in human terms!
Just like my guys.
It’s an interesting age for cats. They are pretty much set in their ways, still a bit kittenish – kind of like human males at that age, wanting to have the top of the line sports model kitty toys to try to reclaim their youth, but taking more naps. LOL!
Aren’t we all superimposing our own feelings a bit?
Probably. That’s the fun of companion animals! (It would be more interesting to know what actually goes on in their minds.)
At this point, what goes on in their minds is “How dare humans call us companions!” As far as cats are concerned, we are household staff.
LOL! And so it is!
because they both are inside kitties, going to the Vets must be viewed as a chance for socializing!
I think that’s a valid point of view! They have normal kitty curiosity, of course, and everything is interesting to them, even scary things.
We’re glad to hear everything went well for Andy ! Purrs
Me, too!
Maybe Andy can have a spa day at home to help reduce his blood pressure? Mom had to clip my derriere furrs this morning, so tell Andy I can sympathize. No kitty likes an unclean backside that’s fur sure.
It’s Dougy’s turn next! He’s really fluffy on his end at the moment. It would be rough if one got trapped in it like it has in past when they weren’t getting trims…
Good to hear he’s on the mend. That kitty massage sounded good, made me think a human version might help me recver from winter stiffness.
I have to rely on the kitty boys for my massages…
With mine it’s more like accupuncture! They use their claws when the “knead”,
So does Dougy. I try to put as much shirt or blanket between Dougy and his claws as possible. The more relaxed he gets while kneading, the deeper the claws go! His purring gets louder, and his eyes close more.
Just like mine LOL
At some point we kitty people should get together and share strategies…. They are smarter than us! LOL!
Fantabulous Andy!! Gaining a half a pound is no easy feat. You are doing great. To moi your blood pressure is pretty good, not great but dang good. Keep it up Andy.
Shoko
Andy says, “Mrow!” (Thanks!)
Pretty good report overall, happy to hear!
I was pleased!

I’m just happy Andy’s healing, and the next visit will help confirm that!
Glad to hear Andy has improved and is holding steady. Also nice to hear Andy is comfortable around dogs in a controlled environment.
Yes, the neighbor’s dog got excited seeing Andy in the carrier, and barked at him. Andy was really cool about it and seemed to realize Charlie was just happy to see him!
Really a lovely Andy boy – thank you for good news. Amitiés 🙂
You are welcome!
Good to hear all went well for Andy, Doug! Hoping all continues to go well. 🙂
I sent you some photos from Elbert’s Garden.
Thanks!
Andy continues to look fine, act fine.
That’s great news, Andy!
I was pleased!
Glad Andy had a good visit.
It was a relief~
it all sounds great. I hope he continues to go well.
Thanbks! Me, too!
Glad to hear that the vet visit went well. No surprise that Andy likes border collies 😀 Ms. Zulu thinks she had something to do with that. A.
It well could be! The kitty n=boys enjoyed meeting Ms. Zulu and talking with her!
The doggies are still woofing about it too 😀
Woo hoo! Yes, we all had good times with the interviews!
We too!
I still enjoy visiting the page I set up for the interviews!
I still look at the interviews and enjoy them too!
(I think we need to write a comedy show on television or a book or something. We are a pretty decent comedy team!)
WOL and LOL, we are! Benji and Ms. Zulu would love to be on TV with the boys.
That would be fun on two counts: we’d get to meet each other and, well, we’d get to be on TV! Andy and Dougy are cool around D.A.W.G.S., which is good.
Well, what are you waiting for, get to work to make it happen 😀 .
It takes huge arrangements for people on dialysis to travel….
You have to convince everyone to travel to you instead, best wishes. A
Everyone pretty much understands that complication now, though I do have a guest bedroom with adjoining bathroom. Of course, anyone how visits and stays there upsets the routine of the kitty boys since they think that’s their territory!
The celebrity boys should never have to adjust, period. Wooff!
I think I’ve come on the answer. Today’s medicine time came and went without any protest from Andy or endangerment of my hands! I let the the medicine warm up to room temperature while the kitty boys and I had out breakfasts and post breakfast routines. Andy let me pick him up and medicate him with absolutely no protests or high drama. He didn’t spit the medicine out or refuse to swallow, making the medicine dribble out of his mouth. I will continue this little process using room temperature medicine and see if his problem all along has been the cold medicine. It has a chicken flavor added and requires refrigeration.
Oh, that would be something to share if it works.
We all have times we have to give our pets medicine, and I personally am glad to share and learn from others following this blog or on others!
Besides celebrities should be able to make some special requests 😀 .
Yeah, exactly!
