This photo of Dougy scratching the recliner in 2017 shows something he did his entire life. I never managed to break him of the behavior, as all the furniture in the apartment reveals.

Yes, I gave up on unclawed furniture, too. Andy has been a good kitty by and large, though he did join Dougy in destroying a computer chair, his sole transgression against furniture.
