08Nov24: the dark cloud…

So, a man with 34 felony counts for his attempt to pay off a porn star; plus a sexual assault count plus more than 26 other women stepping up with their accusations of his sexually predatory behavior; plus a “university” and “charity” found to be scams and legally shut down; plus charges against him for taking highly sensitive documents of national secrets, then denying he had them; plus a speech to his minions that lead to an insurrection involving storming the US Capitol; plus his constant mendacious promulgations – over 30,000 lies documented during his first term; plus his business failures including casino bankruptcies and failed steak, wine, and airline business ventures; plus his adultery; plus… oh well. All these are known to the electorate, plus more.

Sounds like someone you wouldn’t want moving in next door, dating your teenage daughter, or working at your business, eh?

Well, a resounding number of Americans voted this character to serve as President of the USA. I voted for the other one. Character counts. Being a character doesn’t matter, it seems, and the one I voted for spoke, asking America to accept the will of the majority, basic to a democratic political process. I’ll try, but it will be hard.

  1. It is a different world now, there is no longer a world where intelligent, logical views are followed… I am not being stunned anymore, in here we live too… What is right, what it truth, what is justice,…etc. they don’t make any sense anymore… The political game is being played in another world… Good Luck for new USA, I hope and wish I would be wrong to think like that. Love, nia

    • Believe me, nia, when I say many millioms are stunned that a serial sex offender with multiple felony convictions could be preferred over a person with much better credentials and superior morals. We have four years to work through it.

  2. A line I’ve been hearing on social media these last couple of days is “People chose being angry about the price of eggs over democracy.” I have run into people who proudly say they voted for the convicted felon, for reasons that made me clench my fists in swallowed anger: they weren’t ready for a “lady president,” the economy was better under T***p (it wasn’t), “I don’t want boys playing against girls in sports”/“I don’t want men using the bathroom with me.” I had to walk away before I blew up. But I feel worse for my grandchildren and all the kids who will be facing the consequences of this election long after the convicted felon leaves office. A friend who teaches fifth grade at a school where most of the students are from immigrant families said they were all in tears Wednesday morning. She let them spend the morning talking about what the election meant to them, but she said she had to bite back tears herself. They are so scared, and I feel adults have been so selfish.

    • How can one explain this to children? You wouldn’t hire this man for a job at McDonalds yet more than half the people who voted voted to make him President again….

  3. I was sick at heart over this. I don’t understand why and I see no other choice than to accept it. I believe it to be a cult mentality and even some of my family members have been swept up in it. 😢

    • It’s not an easy reality. The hardest part for me is accepting the fact that friends who voted for him had no problem with his 34 felony convictions, his lack of morals, or that he’s a master of separating his flock from their money.
