I hope to get him used to all over brushing. Getting the loose hair off will help minimize mats and his misery when I work at removing them. Now, to convince Andy!

=(^×^)=
Regular groomer appointment in past helped minimize mats. When Andy’s last groomer had to stop grooming because of a medical issue, it became problematic for me because she came to the door to pick up Andy to take him to her mobile grooming van.
Though other groomers are in the area, cat-trained groomers are rare. It became obvious Andy’s days of professional grooming likely were over.

I decided then to let him go natural Persian. That’s when not liking to be brushed and mats became a problem.
After pulling mats out over time, I decided I’d try catching and holding Andy to brush him out. Last night was the first time I actually got to brush him without him bolting off! Mats may be history or much fewer now
Andy and I would like that!
I think he’ll like it more and more!
Mr Andy looks shiny and satisfied. I hope he cooperates with brushing in the future.
I do, too!
Silkie, who is shorthaired, never liked being brushed, but still shed plenty. He has been watching me grooming the other kitties who do like it, and he is tolerating it more. The head and chin are great places to start working on first, they seem to easiest to get them to accept.
Andy likes thst, and that actually how I got him to let me brush his body, too! He always has liked having his chest and chin scratched.
Andy likes that much of it, but I have to sneak brushing his sides and abdomen.
He knows how caring you are
I hope so.
Well done, both of you!
Thanks!
I hope he will let you keep brushing him.
It looks likely!
He sure looks good!
Andy thanks you! He does look sweet with his hair sticker back into llace!
Two of my cats love to be brushed. If I pick it up, they come running. I also take it with me to the vet. I will groom them while waiting for their turn and it distracts them. Sasha has long hair but doesn’t seem to get mats. She leaves a trail of fur though.
I think my mistake was not brushing t hem from the start. When Dougy died in 2020, he and Andy had just had a grooming for the last time by the next to last groomer I used. Andy’s last groomer had to give up her business because of health matters. I was very sad about that because she gad a mobile van she worked out of. She picked Andy up to be groomed and was very good at what she did. I miss that service since I have physical dusabilities.
Maybe you can find a tool that feels good and doesn’t pull to use frequently. Good luck.
I hope so!
Sounds like you are on the right track there! Brushing should really help. I’ve had to work out some ferocious mats on a kitty who wasn’t even as floofy all over as Andy.
One tries!
that are this little milestones what bring joy to our hearts… how great that it worked so god ;O)
That’s a fact! I’ve tried to do this for years. As long as there were groomers to deal with the problem, I didn’t press the issue.
