21Jul25: the hated brush…

Andy is a bit, um, upset!
Doug brought this out.
A little grooming on the side, where tiny mats form.
Gad! The chest is a terrible mat place!
Back to the back. Andy resisted the chest combing.
Toward the butt, place where humongous mats form.
More on the side. Those near-tummy mats are a bit accessible there, though wrestling Andy onto his back’s necessary to get those better on his front legs and those on his tummy. He resists brushing there, of course. Too sensitive!
I’m nearly done for now, Andy. More brushing is needed, but your tolerance level has been met. Smell the brush!
There’s solace in some Greenies treats!

20Jul25 a false alarm…

Andy’s behavior suggests a hunt is on.
“What’s up?”
Something under the recliner catches his attention….
He hops down to check it out!
(I hope it isn’t a “mousie!”)
Well, it isn’t anything.
Andy returns to the ottoman: a false alarm!
He really wanted it to be a “mousie!”

19Jul25: messin’ with the kitty…

One game Andy and I play is “Touch the kitty!” I think I enjoy it more than Andy.
Touch!
Andy isn’t always happy about this game.
Touch!
Then I touch the sacred “floofy duster!”
Uh oh! A step too far!
Touch!
Uh oh! Claws out to gently remind me…
… DON’T upset the kitty!
Ow! You can let go now, Andy.
Whew! He let my finger go. Naptime.

=(^+^)=

“Touch the Kitty!” looks a lot like “Boop!”

“Boop!”, however, is just for nose touching.

(No kitties were harmed making this post!)

The primary difference between the two is the distance from the kitty’s “murder mittens.”

“Boop!” is safer for those who have poor reflexes!

18-19Jul25: Wednesday breakfast  preparations…

It’s breakfast time and Bret will be over soon!
Andy needs to…
…verify…
…all…
…things are…
…in…
…order.
Only then…
…can he…
…figure out how to leap onto the CD cabinets.
Not possible, is it Andy?!

17Jul25: stopping by…

The look suggests a “zoomie” coming on!
His paw on the edge of the recliner footrest is paused to shoot off on a high romp!
It’s happening!
What!? Andy landed on the ottoman.
There’s a bit of “wild” yet in his eyes. A “zoomie” yet to come?
Psych! Andy just stopped by for a nap.

16Jul25: quiet time…

Andy and I had a little bonding time before…
…he…
…conked out for a short nap. So “floofy!”
He is so sweet when he sleeps!
Unfortunately for Andy, I’m overcome with affection for him when I observe this sweetness. I just have to interact with him, sleeping or not!
But, once it’s out of my system, I let Andy go back to sleep.
Uh oh! Now he can’t sleep. My bad, Andy. Sorry!
Can’t sleep.
Maybe a Greenies snack is in order!
Ugh! Can’t face food just yet. Andy wandered off on some kitty business.

15Jul25: a little look back….

Louie the ginger cat slept like this. He always grounded himself on something and held his tail in this odd way while he slept. When he died in August 2011, it opened up the door for the kittens Andy and Dougy to have a home. Louie was a great kitty. I still miss him.
Dougy died in 2020. Born on Canada Day in 2011, he left Andy (above) and me on Bastille Day, July 14th We still miss him as well. He was a comedian kitty and a notorious explorer if I wasn’t careful and left the door open too long.
Life goes on, though, and the happy memories of Andy’s brother and Louie, another Cool Cat, help sustain us.
“Boop!”

14Jul25: it’s Bastille Day elsewhere, but…

…it’s sleepy kitty time here!
Sleepy.
Kitty.
Time.
Andy had his treats earlier.
Now, it’s his time to sleep.
He’s stirring, though.
Oopsy daisy!
Now it’s Andy’s time to stare at me from his favorite perch.
Sleepy time again.

13Jul26: midnight snack…

Andy woke up…
…and had a midnight snack.
Cleanup time!
That done…
…he had a long snooze, of course.

12Jul25: it’s a complicated moment…

Andy hid from me most of the day…
…but when he did show up, he resisted contact. I think it was because I caught him a short time earlier and surprised him with his medication.
Yet, he acted like he wanted attention till…
..he walked away from my hand.
Later, he came back, looked behind the oxygen concentrator, then…
…came back to me and gave me an inscrutable cat stare.
I have this to remind me!

=(^+^)=

Andy’s accusatory stare…

I’m not sure, but I think what’s happening is he misses wet kitty food. We ran out of the prescription wet food about a week ago.

Though I ordered this food, it isn’t shipped without the vendor getting approval from the pet’s veterinarian.

I vaguely recall his veterinarian said to stop feeding it to him – and stopping only after Andy’s finished with nearly 24 cans I’d just received! Damn stuff costs nearly $75 for 24 cans plus shipping and handling!

Anyway, I feel Andy’s message to me is, “No matter how full the dry food bowl is kept, I expect the wet food you used to give me in the morning.”
