Since Dougy died, I’ve noticed a definite change in Andy’s attitude. Everything is his, including this shredded newspaper he won’t let me trash.
Yes, see how he looks at me: “MINE!”
Yes, this registers the same way with Andy: “MINE!”
Closer yet to the chair where I usually sit, Andy’s obsession soars: “REALLY MINE!”
Here is the second most important spot: “MINE! MINE! MINE!”
Yes, this is his most favorite spot, and it definitely meets the criterion for being Andy’s spot!
Everything was his even when Dougy was around, but he let Dougy think it was Dougy’s. Tee hee hee. The bottom photo of Andy in this post is one of our favs of him!
Yes, and you can see his “horns” if you look closely!
Andy is missing Doug too. How sweet!
They spent his whole life together.
Poor baby- Glad you two have each other- you both need the support right now.๐ฟ
WOW! This post is a great “MINE” concept, dear Doug, so lovely all of them. Thank you, Blessing and Happiness to both of you, Thank you, Love, nia
Thanks, nia!
This is a typical (human) reaction to the loss of something beloved and beyond your control. It’s touching to see Andy reacting this way. Purrs.
I’d cry a lot initially. Now it is touching and makes me smile a bit when I realize why Andy still avoids the uncovered ottoman.
Andy looks at you, Doug, saying he is the King!! ๐ All is mine he says! BTW do you know the cats in France often are named MINET for the males and MINETTE for the females ! ๐
In friendship
Michel
He is king!
So beautiful, I do like specially the last photo ๐
amitiรฉs !
Thank you! Of course, we know Persian kitties are naturally pretty kitties!
I think it’s Andy’s grief therapy. Love the “big yawn” photo! His winter coat is growing back beautifully, and he is looking more adorable than ever.
It could well be. I like the idea and appreciate you giving me that thought to keep in mind. Yes, as nice as his coat looks now, I’m thinking I will let it grow longer and not have a grooming session till two or three months longer than the tentative appointment in late January. That appointment isn’t firm anyway since the groomer hasn’t made her 2021 appointments yet.
I am glad to be of help to provide a comforting thought, Doug.
Those are great pictures of Andy, Doug! Yes, it doesn’t take long before the remaining cat or cats take over the departed kitty’s things and personal spaces.
See Charles Huss’ comment and my return comment….
I would think he would have been more possessive when Dougy was around.
Dougy “owned” everything, and would chase Andy if he tried to stop on any of “his” spots. Of course, with so much claimed territory, there was only one cat to defend it, so Dougy made the ottoman the preferred main headquarters of his regime. To emphasize that, he’d hop onto the ottoman and scratch on the corners , ultimately destroying the fabric. Until I put a hand towel and a lapboard over the destroyed ottoman after Dougy died, Andy wouldn’t get on it. That’s how strongly Andy associates the ottoman with his late brother.
Abby’s hair had the same effect on the other cats. Even though I washed all the blankets, it took a good month for any of the other kitties to even test out the chair. Now the Three Sisters have claimed it, and Marcus and Lucio have found their own personal chairs.
I suspect I could give it a shot of Fabreze to get rid of any hint of Dougy’s scent…
Nice pictures.๐
Thanks! Andy is photogenic.
My pleasure ๐
Andy rules!
You know it!
He does too! Hahaha! Bless him.
mine is a word what belongs to cats… they are still the gods …
It’s genetic… lol!
