08Apr24: a puzzle for Andy…

See the white arrow? It’s pointing at a small piece of Scotch tape that’s causing Andy grief. He wants it badly and has been licking and scratching at it for a few minutes. (I pulled it off after he left, defeated, so he didn’t eventually get it off and eat it. He would, I know!)

=(^+^)=

I baked a rhubarb pie and washed and dried a large load of clothes today. After a nap, I had a generous piece of the pie topped with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream with a swirl of strawberry syrup through it. It had enough calories that I decided I had enough nourishment for the day! Well, sugar.

Some of Andy’s sleeping positions seem impossible.

This is the end table Andy’s sleeping on. The white thing is a note to remind me of a doctor’s appointment on the 16th. I often use the end table for reminder notes.

  1. Rhubarb! Some gardeners here in California swear it grows in their plots, but I find it too hot for the stems and roots to survive. Which makes me sad as I love rhubarb. In Minnesota it was a true sign of spring when it was ready to harvest and turn into pie and kuchen (a German coffee cake).

    • I saw recipe on Facebook for that German rhubarb cake. Looked interesting. Yes, it is best to grow in cooler places, with early season rhubarb the most tender. I like making a rhubarb sauce as well. Simple, tasty on vanilla ice cream or by itself.

  2. I love rhubarb! My mom and aunts made a pie every time they came to visit for the weekend on the lake in Michigan circa 1972. My mom grew some very huge rhubarb plants!

  3. Wynken is our plastic thief and is always looking for some to worry at. We have to be very careful around her.

I always have a good chuckle at Andy sleeping on that end table, wondering how could he possibly be comfortable? 🙂

    • I haven’t checked the rhubarb outside my bedroom window, so the pie is one made by a Nebraska company – The Village Piemaker – that makes nearly like homemade pies. I like the variety of their pies, which include straight rhubarb for purists like me, and strawberry-rhubarb pies for people who like their rhubarb pies less tart. I make an heirloom recipe rhubarb custard pie with meringue topping that combines tart and sweet in a way I like, too.

  4. Know exactly what you mean when you say Andy would have gotten that tape! I’ve noticed that cats will go for and chew any bite seized piece of whatever that happens to be lying about. We try to keep it all secured, of course, but you sure have to be fast and agile!
