Post 595: They watch and wait…

One thing is certain: Andy and Dougy always are awake and waiting for me when I wake up in the morning. Rather, when I wake up in the morning, it is because they are there. They watch and wait for me.

I caught Dougy with a flash, but he had time to react before it went off. Namely, he ducked his head.

Andy, however, blocked the bedroom door. I don’t know if the cat toy is to amuse himself with till I move or what, but I can count on it showing up where I step on the hard plastic handle in the dark every morning.

Yeah, and he helped himself to a used Puff from the trash, too. Yuck! At least he didn't knock the trash over like he usually does.

I have to get up at some point. Usually both boys run ahead of me, hoping I’ll turn left (to feed them), though I usually turn right (because I’m an old guy and need to use the toilet and the bathroom’s to the right).

I know, Dougy. Why don't you run in front of me and make sure I almost don't make it to the toilet in time? OK!?

These “in the dark flash photos” do result in odd effects when the flash isn’t fully built up again! I like the blue tint on the ends of Dougy’s hair in the photo above! Maybe I’ll have his groomer tint his tips blue next time…. Or not.

Eventually, though, the boys get fed, then retire to the dark where a flash revealed this little scene. Andy has his pride!

Dougy and Andy are taking naps now, so I need to be quiet. Shhh!

  1. Hahaha! Glad your routine is not too much different from mine. Only difference is we have to let the Girls out too. I thought I had the only dirty Kleenex stealing kitties! I thought it was the Puffs but caught Ralphie again yesterday. Had 3 wand toys to stomp on this morning here 🙂

    • I have most of their wand toys up high except this one, which is Andy’s favorite. He won’t play with it if I flip it around, but he likes to carry it around like a captured snake, dragging it behind him. I’ve seen Dougy do this, too, but not so much. The ones that kill my feet are the plastic balls with bells in them. There are six or eight of them in the house, but they (the boys) bat them around till they go behind something. They’ll stay there till one of the cats gets clever enough to extricate it, then they play with it (usually at night when I’m in bed…!) for a bit before they leave it where I step on it in the dark. They have left other things for me to find with my feet, too – hairballs and poop balls, when I know they are ready for a trim as it hangs on their “tail feathers” till it falls of someplace where I’ll find it barefoot.

      • The poop balls are mucher rare now that the boys are on a regular grooming schedule. When they were kittens, it was a regular (no pun intended) thing. Sometimes they got tangled in the little darlings’ butt hair, and I had to soak their hind ends in the sink (the front ends were NOT happy about that!) till I could mush the poop out of their hair. These are not happy memories! LOL! Dougy shocked me, too, when he tried to get control of one of these by dragging himself across the carpet. I was very conflicted at that time: Was it the funniest thing I ever saw him do or was it the nastiest? I settled for the funniest nasty thing. He really got some forward velocity before I got him stopped by yelling at him. Fortunately, he didn’t leave a streak! No doubt about it, the $100 pet deposit I had to pay when I got my first cat (a one time payment) was grossly minimal compensation to the landlord for the mischief a cat can do to the property.

You had to be prepared to keep him from bolting when done, which meant you got to stand there holding a dog by the collar while he shook himself free of as much water as possible. Yeah, Peanie was a long-haired pooch!. LOL!

  2. You home is run like mine, whatever Ali says. 😛
Thunder rolled around in the skies all night and at times it shook the apt building we live in.
Ali spent the night in an out of bed and crying constantly for assurance it was ok.
