Andy and Dougy have a game they play. The rules are unclear other than a favorite wand toy seems to be the gauntlet that starts the game. Once the game’s “on”, though, the gauntlet plays no other part. Strange!
I know the game is “on” when the wand toy suddenly appears out of hiding.

Oh oh! Andy’s put out the gauntlet!

Dougy came running because he heard the call to play the game.

Andy ‘s presence before the wand toy is a slap in Dougy’s face!

A few tense moments to go before the game gets wild!
There are endless variations in the game after the play starts, but the basic plan is to chase each other till they are tired of it.
So, they just chase each other, the wand is just the signal to get the game going? I wonder how in heck they ever wprked out the rules to their game.
I have no idea. It just started at one point when I set the toy down on the floor and forgot to put it away later.
That is funny. Very creative kitties.
They have me trained, so I know they are pretty smart! lol!
Endless games and such fun! Cats must be smarter than some people I know allow.
I am gone from home often enough during the week that it’s good they can amuse themselves with each other.
You could film them when you are out. 😀
I’ve thought about getting one of those video cameras that catch babysitters and pets in the act…!
My two do it without a wand toy, tom is calling or the female is just running wildly around and they run from the third room to the bed room and back again – till tom thinks he should attack the little one. She then scerams as if she was dying and I have to end it with a few “NO”.
That’s the play pattern alright! My two occasionally have to be broken apart, too, though, as I’ve noted, they generally are best buddies.
That is so funny, the game has really nothing to do with the toy but they use it as you say, as the gauntlet thrown down for a challenge;, The mind os a cat is a mystery.
That’s for sure!
