We’ve had a grumpy few days, thanks to a laptop giving up the ghost, but my new laptop means the kitty boys and I can return to regular posting.
What’s going to fall apart next? I suspect it’s time for the smart phone to go belly up. I mean, don’t expensive things always fail close to expensive holidays like Christmas? And it’s about the only bit of technology I use that’s left to croak!
Technology is so sadistic – gets us dependent on it then croaks
I’ve been there many times!
Andy is A cutie pie. Does he have a toque for the days he hangs around the door?
Andy feels dressing up pets is strange.
Good Day to you. It’s good to meet you. I have to use Word Press to comment on Word Press blogs for whatever reasons WP has dictated. I am Katie Isabella on Blogspot. https://katieisabella.blogspot.com I hope we will be friends. What a beautiful boy I see there today! Looking forward to seeing your kitty family.
I’ve recently lost one kitty boy, but Andy, his littermate and brother and I are working through it, thanks to the help of friends here and elsewhere.
Hell, Doug, even my old (never say die tech) is giving out. I been gone a long while and am probably not coming back but i dropped in to check on you and so NOW wish you a Happy BD. dRU
(a catz lady)
I meant Happy BD to you and dah Boyz. What are they getting for a BD Treat?
dRU
They get to be kitties with no expectations from me. Tuna water later after I go to the store. They won’t eat the tuna itself, but love the water of it. Go figure!
Thanks! Much appreciated!
There is this phenomenon in my life, that when something breaks, everything follows 😀 But my friends know that too. Maybe it’s murphy’s law.
Interesting!
Where are you?
Jean
I’m in Alliance, Nebraska, in the center of the Western Panhandle. At the time of the post, I was having laptop problems that required replacing one with a new one.
Long time I was here again.Fine to meet the cats again.I’m in revalidation and it’s beter everyday but gows so slowly
And then, that grumpy cat’s phone will be sucked by a vacuum for cat hair XD
LOL! That is true to s certain degree!
A short power outage is always an adventure, and a reminder that Civilization is held together by electricity!
Ain’t that the truth!? I remember once I tried to come up with an alternative way to use my time during one, and laughed when I sat down to type letters on my electric typewriter! (Clearly, this was decades ago when dirt was newly invented!)
I have an old manual typewriter from the fifties that works but the ribbon dried out and spiders moved in!
LOL! I doubt I could type on one these days, given my dependence on spell check and the ease of correcting errors. (I used to buy Liquid Paper by the gallon!)
Bless the internet. Without it, we won’t have blogs like these and pictures of beautiful cats like this. So much hair. Must be a handful to brush. Mine are feral with short fur that doesn’t need brushing. But I had a Persian once. Constant brushing.
Dougy loves being brushed, which makes it easy for his groomer when he has his kitty spa day. Andy is a bit less happy being brushed, but will put up with it till he gets bored with it, then he is a terror! (You get very familiar with kitty body language dealing with Andy, or else!)
The way the cat looks is really cool.
Andy tends to be that way!
I know the feeling. Something new goes wrong with my computer every week and my wife’s new phone only works occasionally.
Yep!
I saw you comment on Kate’s blog, Views and Mews… I had to come and check out your cats! We are without a cat/cats now but I still love everything about them and I enjoy pictures of them! I am glad I visited. I will browse your blog this afternoon. I see pictures of cats!
Feel free to wander as far back as you wish! I suggest, too, that you take a look at their videos, which can be found at this link: https://www.youtube.com/user/phainopepla95/videos
Andy and Dougy have been a joy in my life, and I am happy to share them with others through my blog and videos!
Yay for your new laptop ! Technology is wonderful as long as it’s working fine… Purrs
For sure!
I cannot read all the comments above so forgive repetition! I was going to say I have one monthly payment left on my iphone. After that, it will break. That’s what happened to the last one! Planned obsolescence was an old term for it, I’m sure you remember, Doug! Yes that is a grumpy face all right!
I’ve noticed that relationship, too. I’m forcing mine to work a bit longer. So far, it’s working well enough for taking and emailing photos, with occasional phone duty.
Sometimes high technology lowers our spirits when they go bad. At least with your kittens you have the good luck charms and this new one lasts longer. Greetings.
Happy Holiday and Merry Christmas dear Dough and your lovely Cats, Thank you, Love, nia
Thank you, nia! I’d wish you “Ramadan Kareem” if it weren’t over half a year in the future. I’ve enjpoyed your beautiful phoptography in the past year and look forward to what you post in 2019!
Thank you so much dear Dough, Love, nia
You are welcome!
2 more installment payments and my iphone is all mine! Will it break or be lost or will I get mugged? I have a selection of obsolete computers that still work at least going to the internet, so we are always able to post.
I’ve worn out two PCs and one laptop. The smart phone is next to go!
It is a real pain when these tech things die, for whatever reason. Glad you are back.
Yes, especially when you have to set up a new one. I gladly let the IT specialist at the store I bought it do it for me.
Oh yes a broken laptop is no fun. Perhaps the cats can help with learning curve on the new machine. Keep the paws busy.
The new laptoip’s been in service long enough I’m pretty well familiar with it!
you haven’t posted in awhile Doug. That new computer acting up!
I’ve posted daily. You may need to resubscribe. There is a broken link somehow.
no I see whats going on……when I go there the first posting is a older one (posting 1896) but below are the more recent ones.
Whew! I’m glad y ou are getting them because I was out of ideas on why you weren’t! That’s still an odd way for they to show up.
Well, I did have a slow leak in one tire that cost $16 to fix – and the cause weas a very small nail. Or brad…. when I was waiting for the guy to fix it, he came into the waiting area and told his boss he coulb=dn’t find any problem with the tire. His boss said “Check the wheel for cracks.” I thought, “Yeah, here’s the next big expense – replace the dang wheel on a VW! It will cost an olutrageous amount and onlhy come in sets of four or some such thing!” Fortunately, it turned out he was working on a tractor tire, not mine at the time. Mine turned out to be what I’ve written above. Whew!
What………..you don’t own a car?
Is all okay? I have not seen a new post in 3 days…..hope all is well…chuq
They are posting on the Reader. I am clueless as to why you haven’t received them. Let me know if you can’t see them on Reader.
I will……my last post from you is 7 November….chuq
Wow! I’ve posted pretty much daily , with a brief interruption when my laptop died on me. I think I missed one day, with some fill ins done on my smart phone.
I am glad the kitty boys are back, but Doug! Don’t jinx your phone; talk to him, tell him he is a nice phone, good phone, kind phone…
Well, hello Dolly! (Bet you’ve never read or heard that 1000 times! LOL!) I hate it, so I think I risk it picking up on my insincerity and hypocrisy
LOL Yes, those smart phones are smart!
When I was in college, whenever I walked into a classroom, someone would jump to a piano or grab a violin and start playing the theme song, and that’s during the years when everything foreign was forbidden!
LOL!
I hate it, so I think I risk it picking up on my insincerity and hypocrisy,,,
We are very happy to see you back and running. Hopefully nothing will break down soon for you. Looks like your rule of three is taken care of this year. Fingers crossed for the phone to be safe. Have a wonderful day.
Well, Dougy has a goopy eye that looks like a veterinarian visit is in order today….
Things seem to go in 3’s. My sewing machine just went, I hope the laptop holds out. Glad you got a new one 🙂
Me, too! The new laqptop is nice compared with the last one. Anyway, fingers are crossed on yours surviving the season!
Glad you have a new laptop! And fingers crossed that your phone doesn’t die now. My iPhone 6 isn’t THAT old, but by tech standards I guess it is. The battery now unexpectedly drains and the phone will go dead at the worst possible times, like when I need to call for a ride. The Apple Store told me I need to replace the battery, meaning I have to go without a phone for a week or longer. Since this is the only phone I have—I chose to go without a landline so I could afford wireless service—I can’t do that. Hope you aren’t in the same boat.
Actually, I am in exactly the same boat on my phone. I haven’t stoppoed by the provider to see if I can get by with a new battery or whatever. It’s the “whatever” that bothers me as the phone is a bit over two years old, which is 354 years old in human terms. You know….
Yep, when you’re throwing money away for Christmas and there isn’t much left is when a camera or tablet decides to kick the bucket. No wonder peeps are so gloomy in January when they have to pay the bills.
Jean
LOL! Ye Gods are brutal when it comes to technological stuff we think we have to have.
what’s that saying; all things in three’s. I hope your phone is not next to go; COD, the prices are ridiculous. My iphone is a 4s and the 6 with the most gigabits is close to 500 $$$……that’s a LOT of cat food !!! 🙂 ♥♥
Yes, the one I have was ridiculously expensive. I guess they all pretty much are. Mine is not even the most expensive one I could get. Basdicvally, all I need is one that takes pictures of good quality for this blog and – what’s that other thing they do? Oh yeah! You can call people on it!
I hope the expurr-ation date on your phone has a little extra bonus time, Mr. Doug. The printer at my house decided not to work anymore as of last week. I used to watch it spit out paper with little ink marks on them. Tee hee hee.
Yes, the kitty brothers find the printer fascinating, too! Fortunately, they haven’t caused paper jams, but I have had to surrender some printed pages for roosting spots when they knock a page off the printed page tray onto the floor. You know cats (being one…!): even a fraction of an inch higher than the rest of the room is suffiecient to be on the highest spot.
You’re right, Doug. It’s always on the occasion of very expensive parties or celebrations that the expensive objects we use break down! But now everything is normal again: everyone in his place in the apartment! 🙂
In friendship
Michel
I have (fortunately!) a couple money accounts that I can use for emergencies, and I’ve used money from both to pay for the new laptop.
You are wise to have some money accounts aside for emergency case. i do the same .
Everyone should have such accounts! One gets a small ($72.57 / 63.56 euros) amount added automatically each month from a little investment, but I never think about it unless I need extra money for a surprise like the laptop failure. The other one was a small inheritance. I add to it when I have extra money, which I haven’t had much of lately!
Yes, prudence is mother of safety
welcome back
Thanks! I’m fortunate that I had enough money in a couple “rainy day” accounts I keep for the purpose of this sort of unexpefcted emergency. It shortened the downtime a lot! The new laptop is a much better on than the old one and I managed to get a good price on it.
Excellent foresight. We are in the middle of a minor crisis, the 3 year old smart TV power circuit board went bad. Fortunately, Sony had extended the warranty on that model for that problem. Now we must negotiate a technician visit to our home during COVID-19 (the “Trump Virus”).
Good luck! I dropped my laptop, breaking the hinge on one side, and am anticipating a new laptop purchase if I can’t work around it. Isn’t it amazing how these things always seem to cluster around times they are the least convenient for one reason or another? Good luck with the smart television issue!
I sympathize with your tech angst. I feel deaf, dumb and blind without my internet lifeline. Maybe check out Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals just in case. Glad your back.
Exactly! I only have one bill that isn’t auto-debited, and I was thinking about moving that over to auto-debit before the laptop died. I’ll probably still do it.
good question… mostly 3 things run in the bucket when it happens… we hope it is something what’s not too eggs-pensive and nothing what’s essential ;O)))
I had two televisions crap out this year and the laptop. Hope the rule of three has been fulfilled!
