24Dec24: Andy in a snit…

Andy was upset because I finally caught him for medication time.
He came into the front room, ignored my friendly hand, and hopped onto the recliner footrest.
He avoided my blinky eyes entreaty to forgive and forget.
Snit!
Pretending to sleep….
Ignoring me as best he can!

=(^+^)=

Andy was in a better mood a short time later.  The faster I can find and pick up to medicate him, the better his mood after. I do hold him, wrapped still in the towel, to rub his ears and head and to softly tell him what a good kitty he has been. That seems to help because he doesn’t struggle to get away from me as fast as possible then.

I learned of the death of Christi Teahon, my cousin Sharon Wheelock’s daughter, at dialysis Monday. Christi was a sweet, sensitive person. She wrote a book on horse handling that is her legacy and the best evidence of her kind nature. She suffered illness her last years, to which she succumbed. You were the best of people, cousin.

RIP Christi Teahon.

  1. Condolences on your loss. It’s nice to hsve a legacy that will keep on giving after you are gone.

My cat Clancy would wait till hours later after medication or a vets visit, and then “get even” after that he wanted to ‘lick it, and make it better.” and get cuddles.

  2. My deepest sympathy to you and your family, Doug. Christi sounds like she was a beautiful soul, and left a legacy of kindness and love. May she Rest in Love.

Cats do get into snits when they are thwarted, but usually get over them quickly. Calm and efficient as possible dispensing meds, I have found. I have had to give various cats subcutaneous fluids from time to time, generally when they are in the latter stages of CKD. Old Willow was the toughest kitty to work on.

    • Yes, they do.

Christi suffered several brain surgeries and chemotherapy during the past few years, yet continued to help others. A remarkable person.

    • I’m getting better at treating him, though it has forced major changes in our relationship and days.

Chris died on the US Thanksgiving day.

  3. I am sorry to hear your cousin, Rest In Peace. My condolences to you and your family dear Doug.
Andy is great, but you are both more. Thank you, Love, nia
