Post 742: new territory to explore…

There are many tempting places for kitties to explore in this apartment but I’ve never seen the boys show curiosity about a little desk by the  back door…until today!!

Let me say there were lots of interesting diversions for kitties today because I haven’t completely put away the groceries I bought this morning. Andy was checking that out when he noticed his brother Dougy hop on a box next to the little desk.

Dougy is certain he can open this drawer. He's seen Andy handle similar challenges.

"Whatcha doin', Dougy?" Andy is interested now.

“Whatcha doin’, Dougy?”
Andy is interested now.

Andy isn't sure if he wants to get involved or not. "C'mon, Andy! You're the one that knows how to open drawers!" says Dougy.

Andy thinks about it. He didn't get his kitty treats yet for being a good boy so he doesn't want to jeopardize that, now, does he?!

"Rats!" Since Andy won't play along with him, Dougy gives up on the drawer. "I'm not interested in what's in there anyway."

Then there was the mysterious visitor to the door. He knocked, but left in a South Dakota-plated car before Doug (the human one) could get to the door. Probably frightened away by the scary little black tigers staring back through the screen door. MEOW!

Post 536: Where’s Andy?

Things are quiet around the house, unlike earlier when the boys were chasing each other north and south. Too quiet. I see Dougy on the back door cat lounger.

“Any idea where your brother is, Dougy?” No response. Dougy’s dozing, I guess. His eyes are closed anyway.

“Seriously, have you seen Andy?” I ask Dougy. Well, eyes a bit more open, but Dougy’s taking his time shaking off that spell the sun has on him.

I piqued his curiosity. He’s a cat, you know, and that’s his kryptonite. Curiosity. Now he wonders where Andy is, and trots off to try to find him!

Clearly not at the fountain. Hmm.

A quick look into the guest bedroom, Dougy’s favorite “hidey spot”.

Nope. No Andy. Give him a second or two, and there will be no Dougy, either, and both boys will be asleep under one or the other beds.  So much for a dramatic kitty story for today’s post, unless you get excited watching cats under beds snoozing. Keep on moving. Nothing to see here! (Of course, Andy sometimes snores in his sleep. Or purrs.)

Post 386: What’s the kerfuffle about this time, boys?

Yesterday afternoon was exciting times for the boys. The UPS delivery person brought a package. Both Andy and Dougy had to know what was in it.

Boys! Boys! Boys! Wait a moment and I'll have it unwrapped so you both can see!

Dougy won that round, and wasted no time examining the bubble-wrapped contents of the box.

Peek-a-boo! Dougy examines the bubble-wrapped flats.

My boy Andy used the lull in the conflict to do the one thing both brothers wanted most to do:

Just right!

Just right!

Yes, he tried out the box.

What’s the kerfuffle about this time, boys? Little did they know it was an order of canned cat food. The whole package was for them!

Post 360: No! Snow!

“March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb“.

Or comes in like a lamb and leaves like a lion.

Or comes in like a lion, is a lion off and on during the month, and leaves like a lion: Today is another snow day in Western Nebraska!

Andy isn't sure if he wants to get closer to see the snow out the front door.

Um...! No thanks, says Andy. Dougy's on the cat tree trying to decide if he wants to look outside or not.

Andy looks out his favorite window roost...snow there, too!

It's blowing hard, but not at blizzard speeds...yet!

Either they've seen it before or they don't want to see it again: The snow continues to accumulate!
