Dougy’s had little blog exposure, so today you get a Dougy extravaganza, a photo shoot taken to show you Andy didn’t tear all his fur off!
To help him feel better about having his photo taken — no one in my family likes to be photographed, even the critters… — I let him select the setting.

Yes, you can bet Dougy wanted to be on his ottoman for the photo shoot!!

“Say ‘kitty litter and mouse cheese!'”
Dougy smiles for the camera.

He seems…agitated! Why?

“Settle down, Dougy! We’ll be finished pretty soon.”

Oops! I’m losing my photo subject!

Oh! I forget about that dang camera strap! Once I hold it back, Dougy settles down a little. Very little!
“Stop moving your head, Douglas!”

“That’s right! Hold that cheesy pose a second longer…! Good kitty!”

Yep, that’s Dougy in the yellow oval in the door way.
He’s had enough for one day!
=(^+^)=
Maybe he is entering it into a photo contest! He is beautiful.
The boys wouldn’t win any photo contests with their trimmed hair and wild looks, but I think they both could look very good if I let them grow full coats and had a professional photograph them. They’d look something like Bebe the Japanese cat.

Well, you don’t plan to show them, and they are good company.
I do like that full-coat look…! Lots of work keeping it up, both for the cat and the human, but it does look pretty!
But it is a lot of work for these cats. I wouldn’t mind having another Birman, though, since she took care of her own grooming.
Andy has more of that Birman quality to his hair (their father was Birman), and seems able to avoid more mats than Dougy, whose hair is denser and finer-textured.
Dougy is awesome… I love the second pic and … the last one, of course…. Does he meow at you when you speak to him….. :star: Have a wonderful friday & weekend ahead! Aquileana 😀
Andy and Dougy are pretty quiet kitties. Andy meows very softly and Dougy meows only when he wants something…NOW! They both purr very softly, too. I didn’t realize, for example, Dougy purred when I pet him from top to bottom when he hops on my bed in the morning till I happened to lean close to him to give him a head bump. Andy is the same way. I also know he is happy when he nibbles on my hand. LOL!
Don’t you feel relieved when your model do as you want? Pose. 🙂
I’m amazed when that happens, actually! Dougy generally ducks out of the way when he sees the camera or turns his head away to avoid the flash he expects. If I use my webcam or luck out and have adequate ambient light to shoot without flash, that generally works best for both kitties.
LOL your model did a quick escape haha
He hates the flash (reasonably enough), and I try to avoid it where natural light or ambient light allows. Unfortunately, because he is a dark kitty, if his body fills too much of the screen, it triggers the flash even when the flash isn’t needed otherwise. I try to shoot away from the kitties, then Photoshop (crop, color adjustment to deal with orangey incandescent light cast) what I get. Sometimes it works out fine.
Good head on photo of Dougy!
Thanks! I generally settle for what I can get rather than get what I want! LOL!
Love that sweet face with the eyes closed in the second photo, and look at those beautiful bright eyes.
That is one handsome adorable fella.
Have a good week end that has once again come sneaking up on us.
Thanks! Though they sometimes are mean to each other, they are very mild kitties.
No wonder you love these lads to pieces, they’re very handsome blokes. With personality …
Ha! Ha! “Personality” = “ornery as all cuss”! I love the little rascals all the same.
Those eyes just captivate me! Wow.
Dougy has pretty orange eyes. I think it’s his best physical feature, just as Andy’s tail is Andy’s.
Cats eyes are wonderfully unique and intriguing but there are those special ones that just seem to peer directly into your soul. The cat with the green eyes you posted about had such eyes as well. So unique and exquisite just like Dougy’s beautiful, proud eyes.
How true. Yes, Tigger (the green-eyed cat) had exactly those eyes you speak about, and I have to agree about Dougy’s eyes. (Thanks for articulating that!) I find horses have that quality as well, and I’m a sucker for doggy eyes!
Yep his eyes are amazing! Totally agree
It’s one of the two things I use to tell the two boys apart, though I’m around them so much I generally don’t mix them up like I used to when they were still kittens.
Must have been hard as kittens
Yes, if you look at the photo at the top of my blog, a screen print from a video taken when they were three months old, you can see how similar they look. Of course, now the differences are obvious to me and I can see easily which is which, but then it was more tricky. For one thing, their eye colors hadn’t settled in completely yet and for another, their hair changed color, with Andy looking darker with less light in his fur and Dougy, just the reverse. It all worked out!
Ah to watch kittens grow up is such an amazing thing.
No kidding! They are so little and fragile to start out, and it’s hard to imagine them adult sized until it happens.
Yep. 🙂 my sister is going through that atm. Btw tomorrow keep an eye out for my second Japan cat cafe post. There is a cat you’ll love 😉
Bebe is one Japanese cat I especially like! She is a younger version of my cats. I’ll look forward to your post.
Thanks 🙂 and good night for now ^^
And Angel Eyes.
