Post 673: cat in the box surprise…

The other day, I posted photos of Andy playing in a tight, flat box. Yeah, I wanted to toss it. No, Andy had other plans! Since I spoil my boys totally, I saved the ugly box.

All clear! No Dougy in sight!

All clear! No Dougy in sight! (Andy in the flat box the other day….)

Having saved the ugly box, I was delighted that Andy didn’t show any more interest in it.

Then, yesterday, I heard a rustle behind me while I worked on my blog. I turned around and saw this:

Definitely a cat tail! And the cat in the box was playiong that game the boys play with that wand toy, the one with strange rules I can't discern that always ends up in them chasing each other all over the house, leaving the wand toy where the game started.

Definitely a cat tail! And the cat in the box was playing that game Andy and Dougy play with that wand toy, the game with strange rules I can’t discern.

It seemed like Andy was challenging Dougy to a game of “whatever-the-hell-that-game-is-that-starts-with-a-cat-in-a-box-guarding-the-wand-toy-with-multi-colors-that-has-strange-rules-and-that-ends-in-a-chase”. This was choice! I leaned down to get a better photo of Andy:

When I looked at the photo on my camera, the shaky image still showed me something I didn't expect.

So I took another photo, hoping to have better clarity.

So I took another photo, hoping to have better clarity.

Trust me! Though I never got a shot that you can see the cat in the box as clearly as I could, it turned out to be Dougy! Yes, the bigger of the two brothers managed to squeeze into a spot his smaller brother Andy barely fit the other day!

This is how the boys get to keep their boxes. I think they use telepathic powers to pick up my intentions to toss a nasty-looking box I haven’t seen they playing on, then one or the other cat plays on it long enough to save it from the trash. I don’t put anything beyond my kitties!

The boys had their game of “what’s-it”, then took a nap. Of course!

Post 493: the distraction

Andy’s the star of this little vignette, this slice of life, this true life mini-adventure…! 🙂

After several days, both boys now have tried out this new toy, but Andy falls for a distraction just as he’s starting to get into its play potential.

Post 394: the two faces of Sox

My Seattle sister Kathy e-mailed me a couple new photos of Sox the tuxedo cat, the boy’s Seattle cat cousin.

A while back I sent my sister something I found on homemade cat toys. She tried one that converted a toilet paper tube into a – well, look at the bottom of the first photo of Sox:

Sox won't share his new favorite toy, and gets growly if you try to get near it...!

That isn’t to say Sox isn’t a good boy, though.

"Nice kitty says I'm sorry", my sister captioned this photo!

I know how it goes, Sox. I tend to get growly when people don’t respect my space, but always feel bad when I bite their head off just because.

birthday toy blahs

The television advertisement showed happy cats slobbering all over the toy. Even old, fat cats spring up and play, the advertisement suggested.

You bought it! Now, weeks later, your cats mostly ignore it – and it runs on three C-cell batteries whether they play with it or it just sits there running, intending to seduce the little furballs!

I flipped the toy’s cover up on one side to expose the “mousie”. That, surely, will bring the boys in. Webcam ready, I turned the toy on: Dougy came at a full gallop! Here we go:

Hunh!? “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink”?

Dougy has his priorities, and first priority apparently is paper!

The name of the second song, incidentally is Waunobe March, not Waunebe March, as it appears in the credits.
