Post 930: What!? Halloween lands on Caturday this year!
Andy tries to look Halloweeny. He was really embarrassed when the human proclaimed the last day of September Halloween earlier this year….!
Dougy says “Every day is Caturday!” He isn’t much for Halloween, but he loves Caturday!

We did. A few days ago, Kiara sent out sample of the ‘nip blends she has been experimenting with – the blends M and Purr have been testing. Yesterday, we got feedback from two of her secondary testers – very positive in both cases, and amusing, too, since both recipients reported that their cats zeroed in on the envelops and in one case, the cat tore the envelope open before his human got to it.
I like to grow it for my kitties, though I currently don’t have a live plant going. The plant is short-lived, unfortunately, so one needs to keep several pots in different stages of growth if you want always to have fresh leaves for the little darlings. I’m not that organized…!
We keep several pots, too … inside the screen porch to protect them from our furry residents as well as any feral felines (there is a bobcat around and I don’t know if they like ‘nip or not, but shiver at the thought that it could rip off the screen to get some.

I read somewhere where cats that are receptive to catnip can be of any species. Like domestic cats, though, not all cats of a species necessarily are attracted to it.

My research indicated it was a DNA thing – either the cat had the gene or not. That article said roughly 50% of cats have the gene, so I never worried that Rom and Mr. M seemed totally uninterested in it. What does surprise me is that Mr. M LOVES Kiara’s blended ‘nip… I honestly didn’t expect him to participate.

Of my two, Andy seems the most interested in ‘nip. Dougy will sample it, but he doesn’t seem to enjoy it as much as his brother!

If your boys ever get to test Kiara’s blends, you might be surprised – I know I was. My dear M has NEVER been interested and the secondary beta testers are saying the same thing.

Must be a more potent variety!

Until she got into this, I assumed there was on, perhaps 2 types of catnip… not so, plus I think she is also researching other herbs that cats respond to.

I know they respond to valerian and silver vine. I tried the silver vine. I didn’t care for the highly aggressive behavior it prompted in my cats, and I didn’t give them any more after the first time.
I’m not sure what Kiara puts in her blends, but will pass the links on to her.

OK! I’ll look forward to reading what you find out!

Kiara just told me, “I am working on blends that promote a more lovable state. These trials should be sent out about Christmas. There are many different plants and combos that work well together. Every cat is different and will react differently to different blends.”
Loading...
I can believe that. Dougy was less aggressive on silver vine than Andy, and doesn’t particularly like catnip.
Loading...
Kiara also said, “Mine never get aggressive… well unless it is over food… so those cats might make good testers.” I know she plans another testing phase in 4-6 weeks. Would you be interested in having the boys in that? Two of Ellen’s cats had a mild property dispute over one of the blends she was testing, but it wasn’t what I’d actually call aggressive.

That could be interesting, considering they both react so differently to the same “drugs”!

Same thing with Purr and M, but they both loved testing her samples. I think she said that she plans to offer samples of her various different blends, when she actually begins selling. Her theory is that cats all have different preferences and until ‘staff’ offer them the choice, they don’t know what they will like. To have Andy and Dougy become testers, go https://www.facebook.com/Catabliss.nip/ )facebook page) for information.

I’ll check it out!

Ms. Purrseidon is a lot more interested than Mr. M … I was so used to him being aloof over it that I was quite surprised at her behavior.

Maybe Andy likes Halloween enough that he did not mind you declaring it one month earlier đŸ˜‰
I’ll be surprised if birds find it right away, then it’ll be Andy that chatters at the window. Dougy might get around to it eventually, but that is Andy’s favorite window: “MY window!”
Ugh! I had to pick one of those up just this week. I gag terribly when I get to do this, even though I use lolts of paper towels to keep any hint of it off me!
Happy black cat day đŸ˜€
And tI hope you had a great one, too, Marc-Andre!
We did đŸ™‚
Happy Caturday and Happy Halloween!
I hope you had a great one, too!

Yes, I liked it, too! Yes, I do my best to provide a safe haven and lots of love for my kitties!
Of course Andy was embarrassed. You know cats don’t make mistakes.
Nevairrrrr! He drags his tail in shame from my faux pas last September 30th!
Happy Caturday/Halloween to Andy and Dougy from M and PPurrseidon đŸ˜‰
Thanks, Jeanne! I hope you and your fur buddies had a great one, too!

Well, he is a black cat, and cats are the center of the universe….!
As long as Dougy likes Caturday – here’s a squirrel for him to chase while he’s waiting for a bird to find your feeding station!

A new site for you here? I’ll make sure I’m on the update list! Thanks!
Doug you need to go trick or treating Dougs room this year, but remember hair balls are not allowed as tricks.
