Dougy is very excited now! RAWR! The tear strip off the dry kitty food bag instantly brings out the kitty in him!
Andy suspects it’s play time for him, too. (Check out his “horns”!)
But it’s Dougy’s time first! Who knew a Persian kitty could get his kitty on to this degree? Whew! Better watch my fingers!
Andy knows the medicine bottle is where I keep the tear strip because both kitty boys want to chew on it. In the meantime, he gets ready for his turn at play! Woo hoo!
Get it on, kitty! Who knew the tear strip would become the kitty boys’ favorite toy?
Game’s over and the kitty boys settle down. (Notice how they resolve the issue of Andy being too close to Dougy’s ottoman? That’s right: they are back to back! Out of sight, out of mind!)
What’s better than a toy that smells like kibble? 🙂
One that reeks of catnip?! LOL!
Haha. If I don’t see him he won’t see me
…a classic strategy!
Oh tear strips are super fun, aren’t they?! They look like snakeys that got flattened. Tee hee hee! I like the plastic ones best, but Mom takes them away when she sees me starting to chew on them. Mew Mew!
Exactly the same here, Valentine. I’ve had to pull plastic out of Andy’s mouth when he was trying to swallow it. That was my first clue I needed to hide it in a kitty-proof place till I could sent it to the trash!
Any piece of crackling paper or plastic is game!
And how! I sometimes forget to put the paper stop up on my printer when I’m printing. (I send the signal to print by WiFi, and the printer usually is behind me.) Any paper that lands on the floor instantly has a kitty boy on it! The plastic is problematic, and I have to be very cautious about any possibility of plastic being out where Andy, in particular, can see and chew on it.
Especially plastic stoppers pulled out of milk and juice cartons – those get swiped and hidden with the speed of lightning and then swatted around. I am always afraid that silly little Pyshka who tries to bite and taste everything (toddler exploring the world!) will accidentally swallow it.
Exactly the concern here. And they do like to play with things like that. A clothespin is a wonderful toy as far as they are concerned or an unshelled walnut! Those two things, at least, they get to keep, but nothing small, mouthable and plastic.
One of my crystal wine glasses almost fell victim to a cat chasing a tiny piece of a plastic wrapper a few minutes ago! Saved in a nick of time!
Oh dear! Whew! Well, as all cat people know, this is a daily challenge to prevent!
We become adept at cat-proofing the house…
Me, too. Of course, once I got the kitty boys as kittens, I realized I was pretty clueless. I ordered KITTENS FOR DUMMIES, and learned just how clueless I was.
I grew up with a cat in the house, but he was much older and mature, and the apartment was much smaller, and my grandmother had already cat-proofed it, so all I had to do was learn,
Before October 2009 I had no cats, and my experience with them was mostly when visiting homes with cats. Cat proofing is something I basically learned on the fly, too!
You have two wonderful helpers, the Adorables, who keep teaching you everything you need to know!
Much appreciated, too!
LOL
Anything for the boys….this is a great toy around here…Shoko seems rough on them but it doesn’t cost anything so I’m game.
Jean
Same here, Jean! My big concern is they chew and potentially swallow plastic if unsupervised. The old pill bottle serves a childproof (and kitty boy proof!) solution to that problem so long as the kitty boys don’t grow opposable thumbs! I hide all attractive plastic (bags, packaging, small parts, etc.) in the bin of my paper shredder as soon as possible, too. They can’t pull it out from under the shredder or tip it over, so it remains the single best deterrent to emergency surgery and a big veterinarian’s bill. That said, the tear stip continues to be the single most es=xciting=
Everything is a toy as far as cats are concerned.
Same here!
They’re definitely toys! The best toys are those things that aren’t suppose to be.
As a retiree, I have to agree!
doodz….tear stripz iz awesum toyz…..yur dad could make a for chewn sellin em….for sure…think bout it !! 🙂 ♥♥
With appropriate warnings attached, of course!
What Fun !
100% of the kitties in this household agree!
That is like Abby and Lucio. If Abby can’t see him, she tolerates him in close proximity. 🙂
Whatever it takes for harmony in the home, eh?!
