Poor Dougy! Yes,it hurts, but it is so hard to just get the mat out.
I have tools that I can use to work on mats, but prefer to catch them before they get too big to pull apart….
I will be really happy when they can get their July appointment!

I try to be gentle, but poor Dougy got a bit of rough treatment that day. I felt bad about it, too!

What a chore with long haired kitties. There must be something that will give them smoother fur but alas I do not know. It’s probably dry there as it is here and I get pretty bad knots too.

It is a dry climate here, in fact. The main thing with both kitty boys is brushing them as much as possible. Andy resists it, so have bigger mats that still pull apart with effort. He does let me work away at them, unlike Dougy, who has fits if I spend much time at it. His, Dougy’s, mats tend to be smaller since he lets me brush him regularly. He love, love, loves being brushed!
Poor Dougy, That happens sometime. Maybe some treats can smooth things over.

I’d be unhappy if someone pulled my hair – if they could find any long enough on top of my head to pull! (I guess they could pull my beard.)

I’d gladly give up my role! The regular groomers do a much better job of it, plus they have the tools they need to do it right.
Poor Dougy. I know from experience how hard it is to sort where that thick Persian fur is attached.
No kidding! And the fatter the mat, the harder it is not to pull attached hair. I try to find them when they are small.
