31Jan31: last day to catch a snooze in January….

Getting sleepy!

Trying different positions to get comfortable.

Zzzzz!

Yes, the first position turned out to be the best.

=(^+^)=

Catsandcoffee, here’s a better look at the red thing that looks like a tongue in today’s kitty photos. Andy hangs over the side when he rests on the end table. I pushed this seat cushion and the lapboard together in this way to give him a little place to rest his paws and head on this side. He hangs over the side on his tail end.

30Jan24: snooper…

Before I sit down, I set my breakfast coffee and grapefruit down on the ottoman. The end table is crowded with the rest of my breakfast.

Andy hops up on the ottoman nearly as fast as I set my coffee and grapefruit down, potentially spilling coffee if nothing else.

“No!” My worst concern is Andy getting Andy “stuff” on the drink or food!

He isn’t interested after all.

I got most of it on the end table before Andy beat me to the coffee and grapefruit! The Eggos were tasty with the blueberry pie filling on them! And the yogurt was…blueberry flavored, too. (The white thing is a wet paper towel since this is a messy breakfast.)

29Jan24: bathroom birder…

Andy entertains himself at the north bathroom window.

He waits for the sparrows to fly to roost on the climbing yellow rosebush.

It keeps him amused for hours!

He never tires of this activity.

28Jan24: Purr~purr~purr!

Andy love, love, loves me to run my fingers up and down his back! I call it “helicopter butt” because Andy’s tail whirls around, caressing my hand. Others call it “elevator butt”, for reasons more obvious in a still photo.

Taking photos while doing this results in curiously satisfying shakes in the photos!

Take a look at that kitty face! That’s Andy’s ecstatic purr~purr~purr face.

Purr~purr~purr!

The predicted highs start with 59 degrees F/ 15 degrees C today; a high of 62 degrees F/ 17 degrees C Wednesday; back down to 41 degrees F /5 degrees C next Sunday.

“Normal” here this time of year is shown in this link:

Before anyone confuses “weather” and “climate”, I’ve added this link:

27Jan24: What’s up, Andrew?

Andy’s being curiously photographic today.

I appreciate him posing…

…but I’m not getting a story out of his poses!

=(^+^)=

It’s Alliance High School Class of 1966 monthly luncheon day when I put this post together. I haven’t decided if I’m taking photos since I already have a handful of things to carry without adding a smartphone. On a happy note, it’s predicted to be in the 40s degrees f/4s-5s degrees C today, so a light jacket will replace a heavy, bulky Winter jacket!

26Jan24: Comfortable!

I don’t know how, but Andy is comfortable in this position.

Or this one.

Classic Andy. His tail is curled on itself….

25Jan24: Andy tries to get comfortable.

After Andy took a kitty bath…

…he stopped by the ottoman.

He was tentative, not certain about his next step.

Oh yeah! It’s a bit warm in the apartment today and Andy chose a spot by the fan to cool off!

Andy probably stops by the shower because it is cooler than other places in the apartment on warm days outside. Yeah, it was 86 degrees F/30 degrees C inside today, so I had to address the heat issue for my comfort, too.

=(^+^)=

The asparagus comes from Peru. I didn’t even check the price because asparagus is one of my very favorite foods, especially covered in a cheese sauce with chopped hard-boiled eggs on toast.

I got the egg-to-cheese sauce ratio a bit off this time, but it still was yummy! I tried breaking the stalks into bite-sized pieces this time instead of steaming asparagus stalks whole. I think I like it better this way for ease of eating, though whole stalks make a better presentation.

Is it just me or can you see a kitty cat with green front paws and whole wheat bread ears and hind legs in this photo? Whew! I need to get out more!

I wonder why we eat “Spargel” in a green state in the USA and Germans go for it in a white form. If you are unaware of white asparagus, here’s some information:

What Is White Asparagus? (eatingwell.com)

If you live in countries other than Germany or the USA, do you eat asparagus and which kind? White does require a special growing technique, making it typically scarcer and more expensive than green, but the white asparagus is very yummy, too, a bit sweeter.

24Jan24: Andy’s icky morning…

Hork~hork~hork!

Andy had a bad start to his morning. (It almost was a bad start to mine as well!) A few pats on his back took care of whatever he was trying to hork up, but it was close. Poor kitty!

“I’m OK now, Doug!”

Later, I called Andy by name.

He wasn’t responding to his name, something he usually does!

I think he’s pissed! (Notice the set of his wee ears!)

=(^+^)=

Andy got over whatever it was that upset him and was his usual sweet self a few minutes later.

=(^+^)=

Andy may be all kitty boy when it comes to getting water on himself, yet his favorite roosting place in the bathroom is – tuh duh! – inside the shower! He often goes into the bathroom to snooze on a shower chair inside the shower. Today, though, he was snoozing on the shower floor.

I think part of the shower business is he originally started hopping onto the shower chair as a way to block me from taking my shower, then leaving him alone all morning while I was at dialysis. It didn’t stop me, of course, and he quickly hopped out of the shower as soon as I reached for the faucet. No fool he! He didn’t need two lessons on the relationship between the faucet and a shower of water!

In time, though, he realized the shower chair was a comfortable place to spend kitty time.

=(^+^)=

I have over 15,000 photos in my media file. Very few are photos of humans or subjects other than cats.

23Jan24: where Andy comes to nap…

Whew! Andy barely made it to the recliner before he conked out!

=(^+^)=

I set a new grocery total yesterday: a bit over $307! I had a $25 gift certificate that I applied to the total, but it still made a new record of $282 for me at the grocery store. I have enough on hand now to get me through till the middle or a bit beyond the middle of the next month.

Par for course, though, the long list of items I needed to get invariably ends with me forgetting the one or two items I absolutely need. Today it was sugar.

I also bought extra items for my Class of 1966 group’s monthly get-together. Terry got a turkey as a prize and donated a turkey dinner to the group! My contribution – mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce – is a bit more than I usually take, but all of these items are low-preparation, easy-to-fix foods. I mean, how hard is using a can opener to “make” cranberry sauce? Or opening a box to make stuffing or mashed potatoes, though I add extras to both of those.

I am looking forward to a week of high temperatures in the 40-47 degrees F/ 4.4-8.3 degrees C, too!

22Jan24: “Don’t touch the hind foot!”

I think Andy needs a nap.

A good spot for one!

Snoozing….

Doug! Doug! Doug! I know you want to touch that front foot!

Wow! Andy is in deep sleep. No reaction when I touch his foot…several times!

“Give Andy a break, Doug. Leave that hind foot alone.”

I touched Andy’s hind foot – stupid! stupid! stupid! – the one thing Andy does not tolerate. The next moment, he had my finger trapped between four sets of claws! I guess he wasn’t in as deep a sleep as I thought.

Oh yeah, OUCH!

Lavinia Ross writes:

I buried Marcus next to his mentor and best friend Lucio during a break in the rain this morning.   The other cats are feeling “off” and Rick and I are trying to reassure them.  Marcus was a talker, and the house is all too quiet.

Another break in the rain now, and I may walk a little to unwind and try to put my own mind at peace.
