23Jan24: where Andy comes to nap…

Whew! Andy barely made it to the recliner before he conked out!

=(^+^)=

I set a new grocery total yesterday: a bit over $307! I had a $25 gift certificate that I applied to the total, but it still made a new record of $282 for me at the grocery store. I have enough on hand now to get me through till the middle or a bit beyond the middle of the next month.

Par for course, though, the long list of items I needed to get invariably ends with me forgetting the one or two items I absolutely need. Today it was sugar.

I also bought extra items for my Class of 1966 group’s monthly get-together. Terry got a turkey as a prize and donated a turkey dinner to the group! My contribution – mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce – is a bit more than I usually take, but all of these items are low-preparation, easy-to-fix foods. I mean, how hard is using a can opener to “make” cranberry sauce? Or opening a box to make stuffing or mashed potatoes, though I add extras to both of those.

I am looking forward to a week of high temperatures in the 40-47 degrees F/ 4.4-8.3 degrees C, too!

    • Yes, either considering I purchased extras for a class get together this Friday, my typical two-week grocery bill is $220 or so! Last year, it was high at $40 less.

  1. I buy cat food at the local stores rather than ordering from Chewy and a couple cases of that can really put a dent in your grocery budget !

    • No kidding there! 24 cans of Andy’s prescription cat food are close to $60 for 24 cans! It takes two-and-a-half days to get through one can since he also gets dry food and treats.

  2. Great shots of Andy, Doug. If I could get out and go to the shops, I’d be as happy as a whatsit in thingamajig, Haha! Having food delivered means bruised fruit, squashed cakes biscuits and bread; and of course, the way off target substituted items. I’m glad to say that WP are letting me get in my Reader section… it’s been that long. Have feast of frivolity at your do, Sir!

  3. Andy is looking good, Doug! I hope you two have many more years of Greenies and recliners, watching TV and birds.

The grocery bills are pretty frightening these days. It is good to hear you and the group will have a nice turkey dinner together.

  4. That’s a lot of money, Doug. I spend about $150 bucks every other week or so for food, living by one’s self is cheaper. Andy couldn’t be any more comfy could he! So cute. ☺️

  5. I understand completely how those grocery bills mount up. And I always forget that one thing too. Last time it was bleach because it’s at the opposite end of the store. Boy Andy has certainly staked his claim on the recliner! That last shot belongs to the weird ways cats sleep category.

    • LOL! Yes, I’ve done that, too!

Andy definitely has a variety of nap places, most unlikely to be comfortable by human standards.

    • LOL! On the other hand, I can make a list with ten items on it, and come back home with 20 items and at least one item I absolutely needed forgotten. RI hate shopping, so tend to rush through it. I also make the mistake of shopping for groceries before a meal.
