I think Andy needs a nap.

A good spot for one!

Snoozing….

“Doug! Doug! Doug! I know you want to touch that front foot!“

Wow! Andy is in deep sleep. No reaction when I touch his foot…several times!

“Give Andy a break, Doug. Leave that hind foot alone.”

I touched Andy’s hind foot – stupid! stupid! stupid! – the one thing Andy does not tolerate. The next moment, he had my finger trapped between four sets of claws! I guess he wasn’t in as deep a sleep as I thought.
Oh yeah, OUCH!

Lavinia Ross writes:
I buried Marcus next to his mentor and best friend Lucio during a break in the rain this morning. The other cats are feeling “off” and Rick and I are trying to reassure them. Marcus was a talker, and the house is all too quiet.
Another break in the rain now, and I may walk a little to unwind and try to put my own mind at peace.
That is a great Andy series, Doug! I have had cats who don’t like the toes touched and some who would actually spread their toes for a good foot massage. 🙂
Andy lets me stick my finger between his front paws, though I think it’s a ruse so he can claw the finger if I leave it there too long!
I am so sorry about Lavinia’s loss of Marcus.
Thank you, Dolly. He will be missed.
I am sure he will. I hope sweet memories of him will comfort you.
Marcus was a special kitty and I think his loss marked the end of a trio of kitties they got as kittens.
Very sad.
It is, Dolly. One wishes there could be a way to make things ok again at the Rosses, but it’s impossible to live so many years with a pet and not mourn their passing as a mamber of the family.
Very true. No matter how much we realize that their lifespan is much shorter than ours, we expect to lose them at some point, yet the loss is still devastating.
Beyond a doubt.
The vet’s office sent flowers on Tuesday evening. No, nothing makes it easier or brings them back, but it is comforting to know.
Marcus comes from the 2007 kittens born under the old house. A friend took the mother and a sibling, we kept Marcus and Hope.
The Sisters trio from from the 2013 kittens born somewhere on the property. The mother had moved them around a bit before settling on our shed. Another friend took the mother and the only male in the litter, we kept Wynken, Blynken and Nod. Blynken is the one who had a heart attack (before my own) two years ago. Now it is just Wynken, Nod and Silkie, who came to us as an adult with medical issues) in 2021.
It’s been a rough few years for losses on your farm….
Ouch! 😊
I never learn, T.W.!
It’s so hard to lose a pet, aka a family member. It happened to me when I was very young and it still hurts today to lose your sweet Standard Poodle.
Exactly.
We never forget our animal companions. I did not know you had a Standard Poodle when you were young. They are beautiful dogs.
No we don’t, and yes they are. I see this breed once in a while around town and it’s so good. Candy, I miss you. ❤️😔
I’m familiar with this routine!
You are used to sharp pointy things, too!
When Dougie was around, and Andy called out “Doug”, how did you know whether he was calling you or his brother?
Dougy was always addressed in the diminutive form unless he was being naughty. Then he was “Dougles James Thomas”. I have a different middle name, so he wasn’t a “Junior”.
You are good to be featuring Lavinia, with whom I have exchanged e-mails following your last post mentioning Marcus.
They need all our support, so I’m pleased you went directly to Lavinia by e-mail.
Thank you, Derrick. I appreciate your support. Yesterday I was exhausted by last week’s storm and losing a cat, too. I will catch yup with you all today.
So sorry to read this sad news about Marcus. Sending hugs to Lavinia & Rick.
It is amazing how family-like bloggers tend to grow to be. She and Rick will appreciate your message.
Thank you, Herman. I still remember dear Mr. Bowie.
I’ve seen similar things happen, a cat will seemed totally zonked out, but is actually really alert … Continuing purrs for Lavinia, Rick, and their kitties.
I notice sleeping cats usually have a little bit of on eye open while they sleep….
Thank you, Leah. Purrs and prayers much appreciated.
the canine variation of the chinese finger trap… hope there is an online turorial too to get free LOL
It becomes a matter of living long enough to learn the kitty’s trick….
You got sucked in to touching the hind foot.
I absolutely never learn, Peggy!
A cat’s life!
It seems to be a to be one.
