I fell asleep in the recliner. An excited kitty boy woke me up with the sounds of his quest to catch a fly. Yeah, that fly! It showed up yesterday and has been the source of lots of exercise for Dougy and Andy.
After I took this photo, Dougy followed the fly into the guest bedroom…or so he thought.
The fly at this moment is next to me on the lapboard next to the lamp stand. He/she/it is enjoying a leisurely cat-free stroll on the lapboard even as I type.
I just told Dougy the fly is over here. In fact, it hopped on a roll of paper towels. I showed it to Dougy, but it was stealthily still. I bopped the end of the roll on the floor, making the fly take off. Dougy lunged at it, it escaped.
Now it’s flying around the light. Dougy attempted another take down. The fly escaped, but looks like it is weak for lack of food or from being the object of interest for almost a day.
Will Dougy get his breakfast? I hope so!
Compare Dougy in artificial light (top and bottom left) with Dougy in natural light. The older he gets, the more his smoke Persian qualities come out, and natural light shows him at his most beautiful. He has cute silver heels that you don’t see in these photos. I’ll try to catch those for some future post.
Andy, too, is at his prettiest in natural light! In the large photo, he behaves like a typical Thomas – he didn’t want me to take his photo. Then, in the upper right, he did that cute thing he does where he leans slightly to see me better …I guess. It’s so Andy!
I think of my kitty boys as being black cats, yet the older they get, the more they have smoke Persian characteristics, with those lovely shades of grey creeping into their coats.
So much for nice things. Dougy does this each time he gets up on his ottoman. Territorial assertion.
This photo of Dougy was supposed to be teamed up with yesterday’s photo of Andy. Thanks to the quirks of e-mail queueing, it wouldn’t send yesterday when I was trying to put together yesterday’s post. I tried again this morning. Same result.
Later, the whole mess came through at one shot. All I wanted to show you was how Dougy keeps cool in my bathroom. Sometimes technology wipes out all spontaneity and fun from blogging.
Where I put out the kitty treats, of course!
Andy is an observant kitty boy. He definitely likes to know what’s up, and he’ll spend lots of the day observing. Tomorrow, he takes over the world! Mwahahaha!
Oh oh! After suggesting recently that the kitty boys didn’t climb on the television stand, Dougy did it right in front of my eyes. Yes, I live in a world of delusion! And Dougy does what kitty boys do. Go figure.
Dougy pauses for quiet time. Breakfast is over and Andy ran off for his own quiet time. (Who’s the pretty kitty in the mirror?)
Andy has a plan.
Hint! Hint! Hint!
“This is the way! Follow me, please.” Andy is a polite kitty boy, not a whiner like his brother Dougy.
Yes, Andy enjoys his kitty treats. His plan works every time. Rawr!
Andy and Dougy join other blogger kitties for the second year as pin-up kitties in the blogging cats calendar. Here’s what their page will look like!
