Post 1061: in which I try to photograph a Dougy…

I’ve told you before how Dougy ruins most photos by closing his eyes just before the flash goes off. He’s pretty cagey that way! Unfortunately, though, that means you see far fewer photos of Dougy than you do of his brother, Andy.

Here’s a selection of today’s Dougy photos. I think I caught him with his eyes kind of open in one!

Dougy poses nicely till he realizes the flash is about to go off. Then he closes his eyes.

The flash brings on refusal to pose, and Dougy turns his back to me!

In low light, the camera assesses how much flash and open shutter are necessary to get a "readable" photo, then takes the picture. I anticipate how long that takes, then try to attract Dougy's attention so that he turns his head (with open eyes) at just the right time to get a decent photo.

Oh well! What a lovely washed out shot of Dougy's butt. (Are his eyes sort of open??)

Post 1055: Oops! Andy upsets Dougy…

Andy and Dougy generally get along fine. There are kitty rules, though, that mustn’t be broken! Andy should know better. Of course, he might want to get a reaction from Dougy, too. It’s the quiet ones you have to watch!

Post 1048: Computers! If I had a hammer handy I could fix mine.

I futzed around on my PC this morning and failed to get it to work. The mouse works. The keyboard doesn’t. I started the week with the f drive not working. That’s the one that reads the SD card that my digital camera stores photos and videos to.

A trip to Scottsbluff resulted in news that the f drive was unrepairable because of advances in technology [writing that, he scoffed] that made that obsolete. Never mind, though, because there is a plug-in adapter that works! I managed to post Post 1048 with some of the photos, but not the cute ones of the turtle on the road and the kitties greeting me when I came home, all in videos form!

Well, well, well! Dougy finally showed up. Guess who knocked over the wastepaper basket. This is trash day, Dougy. It's empty!

The other day, Dougy was upset because I yelled at him for knocking over the wastepaper basket. Today, it was my time to be upset.

Of course, one fix accompanies another problem: The Microsoft Movie Maker no longer works, I accidentally left the video option on my digital camera on so my Smith Lake trip ends with the road construction scene, and the alternative to screen print from the videos is thwarted because the new version of Microsoft Paint doesn’t seem to allow one to screen print and convert the image to a JPEG file one can treat as a photo.

I work at being a positive person. Computers, however, tap into the darkest regions of my soul.

Post 1044: Dougy sits high on the walker…

Both Andy and Dougy love to sit on my walker. Both even let me push them around on it, which surprised me. But today, as an experiment, I decided to see if they would use it for backdoor bird watching. Andy didn’t; Dougy did. I think the main problem was both didn’t want to be on the seat at the same time.

Dougy checks out the fir tree, a reliable "bird station".

"Hmm! Not much happening in tghe fir tree...!"

Post 1040: The fur did fly…!

Andy and Dougy generally get along great. That isn’t to say these siblings don’t get hissy with each other from time to time, and today was one of those times. The fur did fly!

Andy is avoiding Dougy for the time being. Can you say "ailurophobia"?

Post 1039: computer issues…again!

It is tedious using a webcam to photograph kitties. That became necessary when my f drive (the one that reads SDS cards) went belly up a few days ago. I think I will take it down to the shop tomorrow to get it replaced. Shouldn’t be that difficult or take that long, though I could be wrong. Regardless, there may be another little break in my posts.

My laptop’s acting up, too. The cursor pad doesn’t work. The cursor is locked, and everything I’ve found on the problem on the Internet suggests it’s not a laptop problem but a Microsoft OS update problem. One solution offered: toss the laptop because the fixes don’t stick! The other solutions don’t unlock the blinking thing! Another problem for the IT fix-it guy.

Post 1030: Dougy resists “lovin'”…

Dougy is all over me most of the day. He’s very affectionate and likes me to pet, scratch, scritch, play with, and generally give him lots of attention. So, when I pick him up, you’d expect Dougy to be in kitty heaven!

Nope! Dougy gets upset because he doesn’t like to be held.

Barely restrained, Dougy gets his photo taken.

Poszt 979: Every Doug(y) has his day…!

“Woof!” as the household in-joke goes. Andy and Dougy flip their tails in glee when I woof at them. If anything, they have good senses of irony, if not humor.

That said, today is Dougy’s day to hog all the photo spots in my blog. He cooperated well, for a change, and I think he felt obligated to cooperate or I’d tell you how he woke himself up with a startled little “meow” and couldn’t figure out if he was dreaming he was awake or awake and dreaming. Jeez! He’s just a little kitty, folks! He suffered enough that I laughed when he let out his little yelp!

Here's a dignified version of Dougy on the ottoman.
