Post 974: another snowy day…

It’s another snowy day here. I wrote my brother. I printed out the Benji the pup interviews fort him because, well, my brother loves critters, too, and I think he’ll get a charge out of the story of Benji.

Dougy snooped over my shoulder. “No, really, I’m looking out the window at the snow,” he protested. “The snow’s in the other direction, kitty.” “Meow…!” Some things never change.

I didn't notice that until I uploaded the file on my computer. I got your number, buster!

Post 957: Night visitor…

I gathered the trash to put out this morning. I don’t like to put it out too early because it might attract critters or too late because it might get missed by the trash collection, which is very early in the morning on Fridays.

When I opened the door, around 3:15 AM, to toss the trash to the curb, I noticed we’d had a night visitor.

Say what?! Puma? Coyote? No, nothing so dramatic. From the size, it had to be one of the feral cats in the neighborhood.

The snow, while not much, was sufficient to capture the evidence of a night visitor.

Dougy makes his escape.

Dougy makes his escape.

That Dougy! Of course he had to slip past me while I took the photo of the pawprints!

There I stood, in a knit shirt, walking shorts, barefoot and my kitty’s making an escape into the bitter cold!

I reached down and put my hand around Dougy’s middle. “OK, snoopy, you’d better come in! It’s much too cold out here for a house kitty. Or me!”

Post 956: Andy is a pill today…

Dougy notices Andy's awfully quiet. "Suspicious! And I should know. I'm a cat."

Well, Andy's no more suspicious than usual. Trust me!

Trust me! Really! No, seriously! He’s a good boy!

Andy rummages through the trash. Isn't this what kitties do? Dougy guessed right: Andy was up to something.

Post 925: Dougy’s mess…!

Everyone loved Dougy! He's a sweet, huggable, fluffy kitty.

But he is a paper shredder, a major mess maker, and this is his mess....!

Post 921: Change’s coming…ick!

I think the forecast is for rain today. Felt more like snow was coming yesterday afternoon. Ick!

Not Dougy's first rodeo, yet he always wants to be the first kitty to inspect new snow.

Dougy loves the snow! (This photo is from last year.)

Dougy finds snow interesting and always wants to explore it when I open the door. Since he’s an inside kitty, I have to disappoint him and shut the door before he gets outside.

I have let him explore a little outside, but he quickly follows his nose. That is to say, he’d end up in Alberta by suppertime and not know how he got there if I let him wander!

Post 864: “It’s about time!”

Poor kitties! I was at the military museum well past four pm today and the boys were hungry.

Never mind there was dry food out in case I was late, always a possibility, and water ~ they wanted their wet kitty food…NOW!

Supper is super say the boys, but it best better be on time next time! (We know where you sleep...!)

Post 855: Monday…again???

Dougy and I had a good time going. He’d rub against my legs. I’d scritch his ears and pet him head to tail. Then I’d pick him up and hold him on his back till he wiggled. I’d put him back on the floor and the process began again.

Let’s face it, it was more like Caturday than Monday. Dougy was purring. I was enjoying the quality time with my kitty. Dougy didn’t want it to end and I was pretty content, too!

Andy watched from the cat tree just outside the door, his ears perked up and his horns showing. He wanted to join in but couldn’t make the first step. So I did: Scritch-scritch! I gave Andy’s soft kitty ears a good scritching and he was happy to join Dougy and me in out little love fest!

Andy, all scritched and ready to enjoy the rest of the day.

National Black Cat Appreciation Day is today, incidentally. My black kitties and I want to remind you black cats make great companions, so consider getting one from your shelter if you are thinking about getting a cat.

Post 608: “brother” without an “r” is “bother”

Andy and Dougy rarely are on the computer desk at the same time. Probably best that way, too, because the peaceable kingdom settles into anarchy when they do..

Andy is a particular pest to his brother Dougy. I sometimes have to intervene when the boys can’t settle who gets to have his favorite spot without his brother batting him around from above…(Andy is a rascal!)

Post 598: Dougy’s day

Of the two brothers, Dougy is the more clingy, the more likely to be hanging out with me. Andy has his issues, of course (those kitty baths, medicine drops), but Dougy had similar experiences growing up (kitty baths, eye drops). It comes down to personalities!

On my computer desk, in his classic sprawl...!

He has other favorite spots.

He can watch birds from the top of the mini-stereo.

Andy’s favorite spot is also one of Dougy’s. In fact, every cat I’ve ever had loved to lounge on top of this recliner or on its arms. It was made for cats!

The soft, cushiony recliner is perfectly sized for the boys, and it is among the higher spots in the room, a bonus benefit!

Post 549: the hunting blind

I get what I get, not what I plan when I decide to do a photo story about the boys. I thought — and still think — it’d be cute to get photos of Andy in his new box playing. We played earlier, and he gave a wonderful performance you would have enjoyed…if I got it saved on my camera!

Of course, once I got my camera, the mood changed, Andy stopped being cute, and Dougy showed up to take over. He hadn’t played out for the morning yet, and here was a wonderful opportunity.

Andy's in the picture...if you look closely!

Andy’s in the picture…if you look closely! (Hint: those are his paws under the box flap, about halfway in….)

I try to tyease Andy out for a photo shoot showing how Andy not only took over the new box, he made it into the perfect hunting blind.

Too much temptation for Dougy! He came at a full gallop, and Andy retreated from the game!

I wrap the toy...Aw! Dougy just wants to play, and Andy can play if he wants to!

I wrap the toy…Aw! Dougy just wants to play, but Andy can play if he wants to.

Maybe I won't play if Dougy's going to be a toy hog.

What the hey!? Dougy still wants to play, so I toss the wand toy bug his way.

I give Andy another chance to join the play, but Dougy's just too close and ready to go as far as Andy's concerned.

Woohoo!

Woo hoo! Andy just got up and ran away. Take my word for it.

This game is going nowhere fast!

This game is going nowhere fast. What started out to be fun lost its appeal as soon as Andy left. Poor Dougy! No one will play with him.

Don’t feel bad for Dougy. After I put the camera away, we went back to playing with the wand toy. Andy joined in, but played from the seat of my computer chair, a favorite of both boys because they like to catch the toy under and over the armrest!

=(^+^)=

Dougy decided to check out my progress (i.e. make sure I didn’t libel him). Apparently I passed his stringent test because he didn’t hit [Ctrl] [Alt] [Delete].
