I tried to get Dougy involved in this blog post…
…even pointing out the resident lamp stand spider was within paw range. (Notice she’s a blur: She may be a young spider, but she knows about kitty boys. Yep, she does the “spidey” skidaddle eight step when she sees a kitty!)
So I “scritch” Dougy and call his name. “See the spider, Douglas?!”
“Whaaat!?” he asks with some agitation, “Today’s Caturday. Bug off!”
Yes, sleep! And more sleep. Sleep till the cows come home, then more sleep!
Then try to wake up for kitty food time…!
We have an expression in my family: Ready for Freddy. No profound meaning, just that the speaker is ready to get on the road or eager to start doing something.
Today, the kitty boys were ready for Freddy to play with their cat toys, and we had a solid hour of kitty fun before they wandered off to take cat naps — which I hope are for the rest of the day!
Andy is ready for Freddy!
Odd how that expression popped up this morning. I can’t remember the last time anyone in the family said it. It just fits the excitement Andy and Dougy showed to get going with their Neko toy play time!
Dougy always is up for play, but Andy went through a period before his heart murmur and high blood pressure were discovered where he was listless and not at all kittenish or playful. Seeing him tear through the living room to capture the toy before Dougy does is proof the medicine does its job!
The boys’ current favorite toy is this Neko centipede.
When both play, the boys take turns wearing themselves out, then resting while the other brother takes over the play. That’s how our play session managed to last the hour! With just one cat playing, a play session might last 10 minutes before the kitty poops out.
You may not believe it, but Andy and Dougy sometimes have spats where one or the other ends up whimpering and running away with his tail between his legs! With both playing, the Neko toy takes all the tooth and claw action, and we all like that best of all!
I have to get the boys in the carrier in a short time. Andy’s on my computer, waiting to be plucked. Dougy’s somewhere. I better start looking!
No sooner said, then Andy got up and moved over to behind the all-in-one machine to snooze. I think I can catch him still!
Every time is a new adventure. Today, Andy was snap to catch and put in the carrier. He’s at the groomer’s now. Dougy, on the other hand, went into hiding, and I have no idea where that damn cat is! It’s hard enough scheduling the boys in for grooming without this complication.
Dougy might end up not getting groomed today or until July, the next scheduled appointment, if he doesn’t show up within the next hour or so.
WE ARE NOT HAPPY!

I managed to catch Dougy about 30 minutes before it was too late to take him in for his May trim and bath. He was very upset with me. I was very upset with him.
When I picked the boys up at 11:30, the groomers said they’d been good boys while there. Go figure! And I can vouch for how pretty they look all trimmed and cleaned up. I will post photos of them with their new haircuts, but not today. I’m exhausted from all the running around.
Andy is acting, um, naughty again!
He has Dougy penned up by the glider!
“You going to be good, kitty?!”
Dougy hopes so!
(Sorry for the photo quality. These were taken in near dark. It’s particularly noticeable in Andy’s photos because, of course, he moved around a bit while the camera took the image. Dougy was still because Andy had him pinned down and he didn’t want to expose himself. Never mind, though, the boys were playing again a short time later!)
I found Andy mouthing and licking the television channel reference. How did he figure out where I kept it?!
“Whatcha doin’, Andy?!”
“Are you a bad boy?”
I think I got my answer….!
