Post 1758: Yummy kitty treats!

Try to get a focused shot of the kitty boys when they are eating kitty treats…can’t be done with simple cameras or smart phones! (Andy’s on the left.)

Post 1757: air conditioned kitty…

The kitty boys love, love, love the air conditioning on hot days. Dougy finds that perfect spot to get the maximum amount of chilled air, and chills out. Happily, that perfect spot also is on his ottoman!

Post 1756: Hee! Hee! That’s a big meatball!

Dougy is aware of his fluffy butt…but prefers you aren’t!

Post 1755: Curiosity about the cat anybody?

DSCN6512

Something new in the neighborhood. I’ve tried to show Andy (on right) and Dougy the new neighbor, but they just haven’t been in the right place at the right time.

Yes, we have a new short-haired black kitty across the lane! I haven’t learned whether it’s a kitty girl or kitty boy, let alone its name, but I see it every morning and later during the day lounging in the picture window that’s directly across from the kitty boys and me.

So far, the kitty boys don’t seem to be curious about their new neighbor, which, I think, is also an indoor kitty.

=(^+^)=

When I open my posts, I don’t see a privacy notice, though I thought I successfully added the automatic one required by the EU countries. I ask you, my readers, do you see one? If not, I will try again to add one.

In the meantime, I am not clever enough to sell your information and would never do it anyway. Is it stored? Not to my knowledge, but…!

If you see advertisements, it is possible to block them (I get a tiny income off these that isn’t paid till I have a minimum of US$100, which may take at least three years at the current rate to accumulate!)

At this point, I pay $300 a year to bring these posts to you and have made one-tenth of that off the advertisements. Clearly, I am not a clever person when it comes to making money, and could be forced to end this blog at some point since I am a retiree on a fixed income.

Post 1754: “We gotta do it, Andy! We gotta do it!”

IMG_20180530_111100

Remember this Andy from yesterday? Defiant? Confident? Full of cattitude? Well, what follows is, um, pathetic, heart-wrenching, tragic, maybe semi-legal in Catatonia, where all cats come from: Medicine Time!

Good grief! Such drama! What could be the cause of such terror?

IMG_20180601_013154.jpg

Well…a wet paper towel that I’ll use to wipe dribbled medicine from Andy’s mouth and face and the syringe with the dose of blood pressure medicine. Pretty scary, I’ll say!

IMG_20180601_013300

There is some resistance before I get Andy wrapped up in a towel. (Notice all the kitty hair on the rug? My vacuum cleaner – yes, the fabled Dyson for pets, though I’m not getting paid to mention it – is starting to give up the ghost trying to keep up with shedding season.)

IMG_20180601_013336

I need three hands to give the medicine and take a photo, so this is what I see moments before I stick the syringe into Andy’s mouth and squirt the medicine – as much as I can – into the kitty. There’s a trick to it, but the kitty burrito approach immobilizes the kitty boy’s  “Holy Terror from the Deepest Regions of Hell” claws.

I managed to get virtually the whole dose down Andy today. Some days, as much as a third of it dribbles down the side of his face when his “Kitty Lips Sealed Tighter than a Deep Sea Submersible at the Bottom of the Marianas Trench” resist the medicine.

“We gotta do it, Andy! We gotta do it!”

Post 1753: cat versus human…

This morning, I saw a kitty under the computer desk. “Andy” I thought, and I reached under to “encourage” him to run into the guest bedroom, where I intended to catch the little bugger to give him his medicine.

The kitty didn’t move~!

“Must be Dougy,” I thought, “because Andy would have scooted out of the room in an instant!” I went looking for Andy. He wasn’t anywhere.

I went back to the front room, and saw “Dougy” (I thought) was still there, under the computer desk. He didn’t move. I stood up and saw, well, Dougy was on the other side of the desk, meaning the kitty under the desk had to be Andy, Andy who didn’t move when I reached in and pulled him out! What?!

This Andy let me “scritch” and stroke him while holding him on his back, cradled in my arm, with his head rested in the crook of my elbow.

Purrr~purrrrr~purr! What was it with this alien substitution cat? Couldn’t be…yes, it was Andy, and he was acting like he finally gave in and became a sweet little purr baby, a compliant lap kitten!

I mean, this Andy was adorable, not like his naughty brother Dougy! And it looked like giving him medicine had become a simple process, no stress or strain if the “new” Andy just let me pick him up and pet him till I decided to give him medicine!

Seriously! Once we settled into a quiet routine and I was lulled into thinking a new page had turned in Andy and my relationship, that he finally “got it” about why he had to have his medicine (“We gotta do this, Andy! We gotta do this!”), he made an escape attempt!

Quicker than a kitty, I caught him as he just about escaped from my grasp. I wrapped him in the towel – burrito kitty – and squirted his medicine down his throat.

I won this time, but I think that my kitty boy is getting smarter. Will tomorrow be another game?

Will he win??

Post 1752: Dougy is peeved…

Dougy’s upset with me because…

…I pulled apart a mat in his hair and accidentally yanked some hair that was still attached.

Post 1720: solar kitty time…

IMG_20180425_084527

Andy’s pleased! It’s solar kitty time!

I’m happy for Andy, Andy’s happy for me. Can’t you see it in our smiles? LOL!

Post 1618: a sleepy morning…

IMG_20180112_141634 (1)

Andy is very sleepy this morning and can’t be lured off his new happy spot, the top of the stacked cat carriers. When he isn’t on top, he slips into the top carrier for a little privacy and a different place to snooze.

Dougy looks a bit more ready for Freddy! So I get out the wand toy for what promises to be a vigorous, enthusiastic play session!

Whew~ could use a vacuuming by and under the recliner! But for the moment, it’s a dead bust for play. Dougy decides he’s not in the mood.

IMG_20180112_145247

Since Andy’s still on the stacked carriers…

…Dougy hops up on the computer desk and hangs out on Andy’s sometimes happy place. What cheek!

IMG_20180112_145305

“So what?” Dougy seems to say, “Andy can come and take it if he thinks he’s a big enough kitty boy!”

Post 1601: somebody needs a nap…

IMG_20171228_201735

Andy spots Dougy sauntering toward the recliner. Andy notices that tail flip. Dougy is Mr. Insouciance!

Dougy pays no attention to Andy. Andy is very aware of his brother!

“How dare Dougy upset me!” thinks Andy. Dougy still is unaware – or is he? – that Andy is upset that he walked by the recliner when Andy was on the arm.

After some wand toy play, Dougy wanders into the guest bedroom to take a nap, and Andy moves over to the end table for his nap. No fur flying tonight!
