Dougy love, love, loves his plastic tub and doesn’t share it with Andy. When I bought Andy his own tub, Dougy homesteaded it, too! Bad Kitty!
These days poor Dougy hides in the dark. He hates dematting! It hurts! He protests, but it has to be done. I try to minimize the time spent each day dealing with his mats because I feel bad when I fail to remove the mats without hurting poor Dougy.
The torture tool, the upset “victim”, and the output! Part of the problem is Dougy loves to be brushed, but he always rolls over on his right side a short time after I begin.
Guess which side has no mats. Yes, the left side, the one that gets brushed the most!
I have to find a way to brush Dougy’s right side more so the mats he hates having combed out don’t form. At this point, I think I’ll have to start holding him on my lap to brush the right side of his body.
Long-haired cats are beautiful, but they have to have their regular grooming! And Dougy’s undercoat is especially thick….
Andy is a quiet, sweet little cat, but he has his ornery side, too.
But he is…!
When I first put this poster of Louie as Captain Me-Ow on the wall, the first thing Andy did as soon as I stepped back to see how it looked was tug on the bottom strip of the frame.
Yep, though the photo was centered in the frame and held in place by static electricity, Andy’s curiosity about the frame broke the bond. The photo has been cock-eyed in the frame ever since!
“But why didn’t you try to straighten it out?”
Ha! Only someone who doesn’t have a cat would ask that question! 🙁 <3
Dougy’s asleep, having “worked” the night shift last night. Andy, on the other hand, is wound up today. He’s vocalizing, running all over the apartment, and generally acting like he wants someone, anyone to play with him. This post, so, will be brief. Andy needs a play partner. NOW!
Don’t worry! I’ll try to catch Dougy to take some photos, and we’ll have an all Dougy day. There have been accusations in past that maybe I favor one of my cats over the other…!
Incidentally, Andy got his medicine very early today. He misjudged how crafty I am, and I caught him without fuss. Yes, once captured, he was a very good boy. Naturally, he got treats after I stroked his head and told him what a good boy he was.
It takes time to get usable photos and videos for this blog. Mostly, I have issues with low light, dark cats, and a camera that’s not designed for adequate coverage of the first two. There’s just so much you can do with Photoshop and editing. Never mind, I have no shame and will post whatever I have to feed the demand for more cats on the Internet!
This first photo came from a video of Dougy hopping on the table (“Bad kitty!”) after my brother and I finished breakfast and were enjoying the digestive process. It’s a retired guy thing! Anyway, the video includes my brother saying a naughty word (“@$$hole”) and me saying something back about how I was making a video and he said “@$$hole” on it. Two negatives don’t make a positive, eh?! My blog’s rated “G” so anyone can read it, if they have to.
It’s a pretty good photo of both my brother (he’s on the right…) and my cat Dougy (the fuzzy one…). For further identification purposes, Dougy’s the one on the table since my brother knows better and is a great house guest!
Then there is this:
After a session of “cat toy that looks like a hairy bird on a string” (or “mouse that looks like a bird” — the boys aren’t that fussy), Andy (in front) and Dougy (the other cat) are pooped. Notice how they manage to sleep right in the way. It’s a cat code business that anyone with a cat (or dog) knows is a requirement they must follow if they are to keep in good with the cat union.
Inevitably, Dougy gets bored blocking the front door, wakes up, and heads out to other cat adventures.
Of course, while Dougy’s off to other cat adventures, Andy holds down the cardboard fort, which, conveniently, allows him to block the main passage to the kitchen in case someone decides to “feed the kitties”. Of course, the kitties were fed earlier, so the next official feeding time is after we get back from the military museum this afternoon.
For anyone still with me, here’s what the boys were doing in the wee hours of the morning. It’s a bit dicey because black cats + low light + camera that handles low light “sort of” =’s one of those videos from Hell that you show family and friends when they stay too late on a work night visit! Here we go:
Since I’m retired, I chose to inflict this kind of video on innocent people stopping by for cute kitty videos.
