Post 1939: Mrow! Dougy tries to take over the lounger…

Andy catches Dougy on the lounger. There is a faceoff!

Dougy is full of cattitude today! “I had it before you! MINE!” Andy has to make a move.

Well, this wasn’t one we expected, but it stopped a serious confrontation.

Dougy is adament and holds his ground. Andy cleans up, What else can he do till Dougy tires of the lounger? (Later, Andy reclaims the lounger, and Dougy is content taking the recliner.)

Post 1938: quality time with Dougy…

Dougy’s upset with me. He thinks I need to spend much more time playing with him – but I fail.

Okey doke, mon chat! Here’s votre jouet préféré Neko [your favorite Neko toy]!

Dougy punishes me by refusing to play. So I tease him this way!

Warming up to the idea of play!

In short order, Dougy plays, if not in this GIF.

Ultimately, Dougy thinks keeping the toy away from me is a pretty good idea, too, because I scritch his ear to try to encourage him to let it go. (The best of all worlds, from Dougy’s perspective!) Quality time goal achieved!

Post 1937: the box…

Andy claims the box as soon as the delivery guy passes it on to me. Dougy is there, but he must realize Andy will put first claim on the box because he doesn’t budge!

I remove the tape, a temptation for both Andy and Dougy. They chew and try to swallow tape if they manage to find it! The box is OK, Andy thinks…

..

…but much better once I prop all flaps up! Andy can barely wait to explore the newly expanded space.

Andy is pleased! Mrow!

So am I! This beautiful afghan made by Pam of Texas is a welcome addition to one she made for me when I was recovering from end term kidney failure in 2016. I already sent my thanks for this beautiful piece of handiwork. Pam is very talented!

Post 1936: kitties continue their detente…

Andy maintains control of the lounger…

…and Dougy enjoys the luxury of the expansive recliner seat. Peace continues for now!

Post 1935: spoke too soon…

Dougy decided Andy was out of line. The lounger is his!! Andy barely escaped to the top of the stacked carriers.

“Dang cat!” Andy can’t believe his brother is such a poop. If the lounger was such a big deal, why did he wait so long before letting Andy know?

There’s always the recliner foot rest. Andy is miffed. Dougy is so rude! He’s no angel.

Post 1934: my little angels…

Awwww! So sweet…my little angel!

Awwww…um…sweet!? Dougy!?

Awwww! So sweet…yes, my little angels!

Post 1933: I guess the lounger is officially Andy’s now…

Dougy watches Andy. Andy’s on the lounger Dougy traditionally claimed as his own!

Andy is relaxed. Looks like he’s about to clean up, too!

Dougy watches Andy clean up. He’s surprisingly calm about it. This would be a classically perfect time to chase Andy!

Cleaning his “precious”! Andy is totally unconcerned Dougy might chase him.

It’s official: Dougy is OK with Andy spending time on the lounger! It’s time for a cat nap.

Post 1932: peace for the moment…

Andy is aware that Dougy is aware that Andy is aware that Dougy is aware that Andy is perched on Dougy’s lounger! (Andy’s horns are up. That’s how I know he’s aware that Dougy’s aware that…um. Yeah!)

As you can see, Andy is really, really, really concerned that Dougy’s aware that Andy’s aware that Dougy’s aware that Andy’s aware that…zzzzzzzzz!

Just sorting out all this awareness has put both kitty boys to sleep.

Post 1931: …and the clash continues!

So Dougy’s minding his own business when…

…he suspects something’s up!

Yes! It’s Andrew…on the recliner footrest! Dang cat!

Problem solved!

Post 1930: the dilemma…

What?! Andy is on Dougy’s favorite lounger! What to do? Chase him? He might take the recliner. And Dougy’s ottoman is there, too. Which to defend?

Dougy looks to Doug (the human) for help. “It’s your problem, MacDougall. You work it out with your brother!”

Dougy is conflicted! Andy is interested in how his brother works this out… and secretly pleased there is no way Dougy can have it all!

What to do? What to do? Dougy needs an answer.

Yeah, that works, Douglas, and you didn’t have to chase Andy at all! (Andy gains power over Dougy because he never did budge from the lounger.)
