Post 981: Whither Benji…?

I tell you, that Benji is just too cute for his own britches! And Anarette now tells us he’s taken on a doggy adventure as a sailor. What a pup!

Yes, here he is! Benji continues to grow both in size and in our affection!

Follow your nose to this post to find out more about Benji the shelter pup. He’s been very busy since he and the cat brothers interviewed each other!

Andy and Dougy don’t understand this sailing business. “Why would anyone want to get that close to that much water?” Indeed! It is a conundrum.

Poszt 979: Every Doug(y) has his day…!

“Woof!” as the household in-joke goes. Andy and Dougy flip their tails in glee when I woof at them. If anything, they have good senses of irony, if not humor.

That said, today is Dougy’s day to hog all the photo spots in my blog. He cooperated well, for a change, and I think he felt obligated to cooperate or I’d tell you how he woke himself up with a startled little “meow” and couldn’t figure out if he was dreaming he was awake or awake and dreaming. Jeez! He’s just a little kitty, folks! He suffered enough that I laughed when he let out his little yelp!

Here's a dignified version of Dougy on the ottoman.

Post 976: “…and your enemies closer….”

You’ve heard the axiom before: “Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer.” Andy apparently has, too.

Around the time I give Andy his daily dose of medicine, we become enemy combatants, Andy in his  armed camp, and me in mine. I intend to give him his medicine and a little loving, and he intends not to play my game.

Andy, pretending to be cool, but watching me closely for signs I'm about to get up to snatch him away to give him his medicine...!

Andy, pretending to be cool, but watching me closely for signs I’m about to get up to snatch him away to give him his medicine…!

Andy's suspicious now. He's spotted a slight change in my body position that he suspects is the next step before he gets snatched up and given medicine! (He guessed correctly, but I caught the little rascal anyway.)

Andy's "medicine face"....

Andy’s “medicine face”….

Oh the high drama! The pitiful protests! The struggle to avoid the inevitable and necessary dose of medicine! No, Andy, I am not pulling your tail off. I’m giving you something to help your blood pressure. (Yes, cats can have high blood pressure! And you thought they lived the life of Riley, no stress in their pampered little homes!)

Post 974: another snowy day…

It’s another snowy day here. I wrote my brother. I printed out the Benji the pup interviews fort him because, well, my brother loves critters, too, and I think he’ll get a charge out of the story of Benji.

Dougy snooped over my shoulder. “No, really, I’m looking out the window at the snow,” he protested. “The snow’s in the other direction, kitty.” “Meow…!” Some things never change.

I didn't notice that until I uploaded the file on my computer. I got your number, buster!

Post 972: Much better today, thank you!

I think I licked whatever it was I was dealing with this week. I feel a lot better today, though I haven’t figured out if my stomach truly is ready for something other than toast and jam or I just think it is. We’ll find out…!

Andy's keeping an eye out on me. Dougy's catching up on his rest after spending the morning bugging me to give him some kitty loving!

Other than that, it’s snowing here. Andy just noticed that, and decided the falling snow is more interesting than watching me. Go figure!

Post 960: window kitty…

My neighbor said he’d put up the bird feeder outside my window for my boys, and, nice guy that he is, he did just that!

It takes birds a bit of time to find the feeder in the first place, then determine that it is safe to come in to feed.

Andy waits for those fat, juicy tidbits to fly in!

You wouldn’t think having a big black kitty staring at you from the inside of the window would inspire confidence, yet the birdies throw caution to the wind and fly in for a little treat.

Andy will be there…!

Post 956: Andy is a pill today…

Dougy notices Andy's awfully quiet. "Suspicious! And I should know. I'm a cat."

“Suspicious! And I should know. I’m a cat.”

Well, Andy's no more suspicious than usual. Trust me!

Well, Andy’s no more suspicious than usual.
Trust me! Really! No, seriously! He’s a good boy!

Andy rummages through the trash. Isn't this what kitties do? Dougy guessed right: Andy was up to something.

Post 955: Why is Dougy laughing?

Dougy was curious, of course. The Facebook question was “What breed of dog are you?”

“Hee! Hee! I’m a cat! But I’ll see what the site tells me I really am,” chortled Doggy, er, Dougy.

“Well, at least I’m a cute doggy,” he thought, and he agreed 100% that he is 99% nice, 95% spontaneous, and 95% a perfectionist.

Woof!

Post 953: Chasing Benji’s tale…

It looks like we might be ready to post the first part of the Benji story tomorrow. Anarette sent me a few new photos (really cute!) and I’ll marry them to the text already done.

In the meantime, what does Benji the pup really love doing? Well, the chase game for one thing.

Woof! Woof! Benji loves to play the chase game!

“Woof! Woof!” Benji loves to play the chase game!

Benji’s older doggy companion, Ms. Zulu, is recovering from surgery on her leg, so she can’t join him just yet, but I bet the two of them will have great fun together once she is healed and ready for rigorous fun again. She’s a herding dog, after all!

Post 951: someone new on the block…

Andy and Dougy are very excited about a newbie on the block, and can’t wait to find out all they can about him. They are, if anything, very snoopy boys!

Benji! Ain't he cute!?

Benji! Ain’t he cute!?

Benji doesn’t exactly live in our neighborhood, just in our Internet circle, and that is sufficient to get the boys all excited. He is Ms. Zulu’s new companion, and they both live with Anarette, our Internet friend whose beautiful blog posts about nature and her relationship to it captured my heart and interest some time back. (Check her blog out here.)

The boys like Ms. Zulu because she answered a lot of snoopy questions they had about dogs.Of course, she asked them questions, too, because, well, tit for tat! If you missed the exchange, you can catch up on the Ms. Zulu-kitty friendship here and here and here and here and here
