Post 1012: “Oh! I have a webcam that I can use to take photos!”

It isn’t a fix so much as another way to do the same thing. Yes, I can’t use an camera’s memory gizmo to put photos on my computer just now. But…! But I can use my webcam! It puts photos and videos in strange places, but I usually find them eventually, just as I did today.

I am reasonably smart, yet it took me several days to fugure out my Logitech webcam is a reasonable substitute for my camera till I get the computer drive F. fixed....! Hmmm.

For example, today Dougy was watching birds (pine siskins) outside the back window….

Intensely interesting stuff, Dougy thinks. Snack-sized!

In some respects, the webcam takes better photos than the camera. Bad light, for example, is less of an issue with the webcam. Happy days! I’m glad I remembered the webcam.

Post 994: Whew! It took two dozen shots to get this one of Dougy!

Typical! Dougy just isn’t an easy kitty to photograph. But I finally got one sort of clear photo of the newly trimmed Dougy.

Post 973: birds on the feeder…!

The boys discovered they can watch birds from the cat tree just as easily as in the window, and the birds stick around longer. Of course, the birds don’t have a big kitty a foot or less away like they do when the boys window sit!

I was able to distract Dougy long enough for a rare head on shot. He gave me half a second before he went back to bird watching. He has his priorities.

"Hey! I'm busy! Take your photo and leave me alone!" OK, Dougy. Just this once.

Post 970: Urp….!

Sorry, but I have a really sour stomach today. I cancelled one plan to get together with old friends at a new restaurant. I just didn’t think I could handle food, no matter how good. In fact, just writing “food” brought about an involuntary gurgle in my stomach, a rebellion I’ve been fighting for a day now.

In lieu of anything, though, I am posting a Dougy photo. He’s my main boy, you know. He worries if I don’t get out of bed fast enough for him, and he will hang out with me until he’s sure I’m, erm, “not dead”!!

It’s a good one of him, I think, amazingly, since I only made one shot of him today, and it turned out to be dang decent. All I can figure is Dougy felt sorry for me. LOL!dougy 121015

Post 968: Dougy’s fine day…

Once in a long time, I can catch Dougy in a cooperative mood to be photographed. Today was such a day, so I took as many photos of the little darling as I could before he remembered he doesn’t like being photographed. Some even turned out pretty decent!

Post 967: the day started wrong, with a glaring error, but…

Not much happening today. I washed a sink full of dishes, skritched both cats till they got tired of it, and tried to get at least one photo of Dougy since he’s been a bit missing from this blog of late. His fault, believe it! He is camera shy, a true Thomas!

...and this is the GOOD one! LOL!

Here's another view of Dougy. I think his tail rivals Andy's, though Andy is the kitty best known for his tail.

[This is a re-edited version of Post 966, which had an embarrassing, moronic error in it that I’d rather everyone forget I made. Believe it or not, even though this is a light-hearted blog by most standards, “fluffy” stuff, I do try to put out something that makes sense, is grammatical, and is spelled correctly. I hate it when I miss my mark!]

Post 948: A exceptional day at the window!

It’s rare both Andy and Dougy go to the window at the same time. “Personal space” issues, you know: “He’s my brother, but that means I don’t have to be nice to him if I choose!” Maybe it was the catnip….

Andy was there first. Then Dougy joined him. Something interesting outside, you bet!

Post 947: Andy in black and white…

Photographing black cats in a dark place is a challenge. It is possible to get passable images with a little Photoshop manipulation or by closing your eyes and imagining. LOL!

Andy choses to “hide” behind the printer after he’s had his breakfast, chased his brother, perhaps played a little with a BirBug toy, but definitely taken a few minutes to take a kitty bath.

That, of course, makes taking his photo nearly impossible because the hidey hole he chose is in the dark: One does what one can!

Drop the color, add contrast, close your eyes, and hope it resembles a kittycat!

Not the best photo possible. Well, “best possible”, if not the most desirable!

Try again.

Try again.

Ugh! Flash is nice when photographing a black cat…if you like that laser-eye look of light reflecting off the back of their eyes. This one was without flash but with tons of  Photoshopping.

Enough for today! My next cat will be named “Snowball”!

A little reflection off the eyes, a bit more contrast…. Hey! You settle for what you can get when you photograph black cats in the dark!

Post 898: some posters from favorite photos…

I found fakeposters.com some time ago. It allows anyone with digital image files to make “posters”.

Over the years, I’ve made a few, some of which you’ve probably seen if you’ve followed my blog for very long, and others you may never have seen. I hope you enjoy them!

You've seen this photo of Dougy. It's my all time favorite of him!

Post 894: the Caturday paparazzo attack on poor Dougy J. Gato…!

Oh, oh, oh!! Caturday is supposed to be a day of fun and little doin’! So what did poor Dougy have to put up with first thing this morning? Yep! A paparazzo attack of the most thorough and intrusive sort!

Caught by the paparazzo! Doughy feels trapped once again!

Dougy tries to disappear from the naughty photographer!

“Poopy tail feathers! I’m stalked even here!”
Dougy feels stressed out.
“Must escape to my happy place…!”

Dougy's happy place is in the lion's den. No relief from the flash here.

The paparazzo, finally satiated, takes one last photo of his victime. Dougy final;ly gets to enjoy a little peace and quiet on Caturday!
