Dougy wanted to play, and we did. Then he conked out. We definitely had fun, but a kitty’s got priorities. It’s nap time!

Sorry things are so dark, but Andy chose to hide on my walker. It, of course, is in the dark.

That’s a bit better. Pretty is as pretty does!

Let’s see…. These were in a neat pile next to my glider rocker. I was going to put them in the trash as soon as I went back that way. Andy found them first and had a cat party. Hmm. What did I say about “pretty is as pretty does”? And he did it right behind me! How could I not notice?

Around that eye looks a little icky, but that’s the medicine over-flow after I gave Dougy his eye drops. Between Dougy and me, we clean it up. I just wanted to show you how I restrain my kitties to give them medicine. I can’t believe I used to give them medicine without wrapping them in a towel! Impossible! And they do have claws.

“Wanna play, Douglas?”

“See what I brought out for your pleasure?” Yeah, the chewed-up tear strip Dougy and Andy love, love, love!

I have his interest…

“It’s yours for the taking, big guy!”

“Oh yeah!” Dougy has his verve back!

Kill! Kill! Kill!

Andy wasn’t happy I put my cane there, and faced toward it till I moved it out of his way. (Yes, the kitty boys are very spoiled!)

“Where do you expect me to put my tail…!?”

Of course, Dougy didn’t cooperate for a photo of the eye, but his veterinarian was pleased with how well it has healed. We continue the anti-bacterial drops (not anti-viral as I mentioned earlier…) and corneal repair drops for another week because there is a tiny spot that hasn’t completely healed. Dougy has been such a good boy about the drops, neither he nor I will have a problem with that!

This is where we started a bit over a week ago. I’m impressed with the speed and efficacy of the combination of the two kinds of drops over just the anti-bacterial drops alone, the treatment Dougy got several years ago when he had the same problem.

UPDATE! Dougy almost got away without me getting a photo of his healthier eye, but the photo above was taken after I completed this post.

From a distance, Dougy’s eye looks much better. How much better will be determined today when Dr. Ylander examines it at the veterinary clinic.

Close up, though, his right eye has gunk in the hair surrounding it. I ran out of one of his eye drops yesterday, so he missed that medication for last afternoon and this morning. I hope that is the reason for the change in the appearance of his eye. He doesn’t seem to have any pain or problems keeping it open, like a week or so ago. Poor little guy! I hope his veterinarian has good words for him and me this morning.

Dougy’s eye is much better. He can tolerate the bright light at the window again and enjoy the sad little marigolds trying their best to get all the winter sun possible.

I have a physical disability and one speed, slow! Since I am responsible for giving Andy his blood pressure medicine twice a day, that disability might make a difference. Except! Yes, except, my kitty boys seem convinced my cane has some magical holding quality. If I point it at them, they tend to stop. If I put it on top of them…! Yes, it is my authority.
As you can see above, “respect” doesn’t necessarily mean I don’t get a “stink eye” from Andy when I catch him with the cane so he can get his midday medicine.
