Post 1263: it was chaos this morning…

It was time for Andy’s medicine. That is to say, I managed to snag him when he had his guard down, and I hadn’t given him his medicine yet. Yeah, “medicine time”!

I thought it would be a good time to get some photos for today’s blog, too. What I hadn’t counted on was Dougy. Dougy! I’m wrestling his unhappy brother, and Dougy got up on the counter, not an approved kitty activity!

=(^+^)=

Gad! Andy got his medicine, but Dougy made it a challenge beyond the usual challenge. Bad kitty! He knows he’s not supposed to hop on the counter!

Post 1007: The kitty boys are back…in photos!

I imagined the worst and the worst didn’t come to be. I took my PC down to the Staples in Scottsbluff this morning, fully expecting to leave it there for a major cleaning. But it turned out the problem was minor, fixable while I waited, and cost me nothing. How good can that be?

Best of all, I can insert videos and photos again. The weggieboy’s blog is whole again! Just for you, here’s Andy looking out the back door from his favorite high spot, the top of my computer.

andy back on computer

Well, not his best side, but you get to see a new photo of his just the same. Some things didn’t change during our absence. Andy on the computer is one of those things. He sometimes accidentally turns it on. Or maybe it’s on purpose: It’s one way to get a little heat!

What about Dougy? Once the small settee was taken to the landfill (thanks to naughty Dougy, who torn it to shreds using it as an “illegal” scratching post), I had a new place for the little desk and the blue carrier. Just an aside first, though. Notice the rope on the cat tree is thoroughly used. That’s Andy’s work. He’s the good boy of the two.

Back to the relocated blue carrier, one of Andy’s favorite places to perch. Here’s what I captured on camera today: dougie on blue carrier

Yes, Dougy sneaking a perch while Andy watched out the back door! Some things never change.

Post 1005: in which I advocate for the death penalty for people who create computer viruses and other on-line mischief…

Not really! But I do wish some people had dropped their precious bundles on their heads when they were infants or spent more time socializing their basement-dwelling trolls before they let them have access to computers.

Yes, I had to deal with a computer virus yesterday, and it was not a harmless crime. I got through it, however, so all it well for the time being. I mean, how many times do you get to talk with someone sitting in India while he tries to straighten out your mess? (And get to pay for the conversation?)

=(^+^)=

I found an unused Neeko replacement bumblebee toy on the table. I unpacked it since the one in use is pretty well destroyed in multiple catastrophes. Andy was watching. And waiting to pounce. The little rascal caught me off guard. We had an exciting spontaneous play session.

Dougy watched from behind my shoes (which I’d taken off by the door), but mostly stayed out of the game. This is the reverse of the usual play styles of the two boys. Andy usually is the last kitty to join in the fun and Dougy generally is always “up” for play.

I was very pleased Andy initiated play today. Perhaps he is coming out of his shell!

=(^+^)=

I’m making a crockpot meal today. It is the first one since I got back from the hospital and therapy “vacation” I recently had. I hope I didn’t make too much because there is a limit to how many times and ways I can eat something before I start thinking about wasting the last of it.

Post 800: a damn nuisance, but things turned out just fine!

Andy seemed unusually interested in me this morning while he watched me from the top of the computer.

Andy was very curious. Was it the Egg McMuffin or me he was fascinated by? We'll never know!

Andy was very curious. Was it the Egg McMuffin or me he was fascinated by? We’ll never know!

Maybe it was all the stuff I took out of my billfold. Seems I’d lost it yesterday, did a panic, cancelled credit cards, contacted the police, cancelled my museum duties so I could search for it while the trail was hot…or not so cold, since I had no idea how long it’s been since it went missing.

What a damn nuisance! The only good thing seemed to be the license examiners come to my town Thursdays and Fridays, so I could take care of applying for a new driver’s license the day after I discovered the billfold missing. Though you can apply for replacements on-line, you wait 20 days for it to come, and I couldn’t wait that long for a license!

There is limited public transportation here. You call for a ride, they come, and eventually you get where you are going. It’s a matter of knowing how these things work. I’m used to getting into a car, taking care of business, and being done with it in short order.

Lost several months ago and found yesterday...in my car, barely sticking out near the driver's side seat track.

The police station woman didn’t encourage me to drive without a license to get to the DMV office today, but I decided I’d risk it. At worse, in the mile drive I might, might pass a police cruiser, but more likely I’d safely get there, license or not. I have a clean driving record.

I’m 67, have driven since I got a learner’s permit at 15 1/2, and in all that time I’ve been stopped once in South Dakota (they were checking local cars for something, so sent me on with a wave…) and once in Nebraska (my idiot boss made me take the company van to drive him to the airport in the next town even though we both knew a headlight was broken out, courtesy of a Nebraska Department of Roads dump truck that “tossed” gravel at the van when someone else was driving it; I got a “fix it” ticket, which was done the same day and should have been done before I got the van in the first place. I was pissed!).

Must have been the Egg McMuffin because he went over to his blue carrier perch on the settee after I finished eating the food.

Cancelling three credit cards was a revelation. Chase VISA was a nightmare to deal with, with automated menus offering several choices, including one where I was asked to punch in the first three letters of a password. Fine, except I have a primitive flip phone. Two of three letters in the password were the first letter possible for the key concerned. The third letter required punching the key twice to get to the correct letter, which is to say, the automated Chase system mistook for the first letter, not the second.

I am a life member of several organizations, and I didn't look forward to getting these replaced!

Follow that? I was yelling obscenities at a machine before I finally got a human. The human noted I’d be able to take a short survey after we took care of our business. I wisely hung up rather than tell them just how I feel.

The 1st National Bank of Omaha card was a little less unfriendly to cancel and arrange for a new card, and the American Express process was simple, fast, all on-line, and offered the fastest replacement time – two days! The others assured me I could see a card in one business week.

As fascinating as I was, Andy had other priorities!

And the lost billfold? This morning, while putting on my light jacket to leave for the DMV, I felt a lump in the left sleeve, an odd lump…! Yes, somehow my billfold ended up in the sleeve lining. Oddly enough, it was still in the pocket I usually put it in, and the pocket was what was stuffed…JEEZ! After all the fuss, then, I still had everything, but was getting all new credit cards. I didn’t have to go to the DMV (illegally driving there) I’d got ready to go to, and I had the added bonus of finding that lost car key!

This business was a damn nuisance, but things turned out just fine!

Post 784: a bright, sunshiney day…!

After all the rain, cold, and snow of the past few weeks, today is looking like a bright, sunshiney day!

I opened the doors to let fresh air in, something an apartment with three boys (Andy, Dougy, and me) in it definitely can use from time to time — whew!

Dougy was the first to make use of the open door in back.

“…litterbox?”

More important things to check out!

More important things to check out!

“This is what I’m talking about!” Dougy enjoys the backyard, and, with luck, will see a kitty pass by!

Another sunshiney thing about today is I finally figured out the problem with my all-in-one machine. You know computers and peripherals: when they work, they are wonderful; when they don’t work, it’s usually something stupid and simple, but takes hours and days to figure out!

You know this all-in-one machine from such photos as this one of Andy sneaking a peek at me:

Ia m watched. Andy may have a chance of escaping me today...for awhile!

Post 764: a knock on the door…

There was a knock on the door yesterday afternoon. I was on my computer, responding to comments left on my blog when it came. I wasn’t expecting anyone, so was very curious about who might be there.

When I opened the door, it was my neighbor from across the lane, holding something in his hand. He explained he and his wife were headed for Minnesota for the rest of the month, that the parking space they use would be available to my neighbor in the other end of this duplex. He just wanted me to know she’d been told she could park there.

Then he handed me what was in his hand — strawberry shortcake. It was for being a good neighbor, which I protested was being charitable…!

Not only was it HUGE, it was as delicious as it looks!

You can be sure there were little eyes watching all of this, and two of them perched on the back of the recliner, behind my computer chair.

Andy didn't miss a thing. Further, he was sure this strawberry shortcake surely was kitty food!

Any of you with cats know eating food is fascination of a high order to cats, and they expect their fair share of whatever you might have on your plate.

A dark day in kittydom: The human ate all of the food! How rude!

Post 754: Andy has parking spot issues, too…

Maybe it’s the season. Andy’s having parking spot issues, too, with his brother Dougy.

“And stay away…!” Andy has had it!
