Post 1772: Andy’s string…

This is the newest toy Andy love, love, loves: a string from my sweats that wore out and broke. No $30-five-D-battery- toys for this kitty boy! If you want to get Andy all wound up, bring out the string, any string. That’ll get his kitty on, and how!

=(^+^)=

Sorry for the photo quality but I did this with my point-and-shoot, a camera I haven’t used since I got my smart phone two years ago. I’ve forgotten where the edit feature is on the menu!

On top of focus and exposure issues, the dang thing has long delays between hitting the shutter and the shutter actually operating when you take photos in low light. That’s why you get a hint of Andy in these photos, but little of the full face. That pretty much explains, too, why I stopped using it and went almost exclusively to the smart phone camera.

Why, then, did I use it? Curiosity, I guess.

Post 1771: catnaps day…

I wasn’t going to post today, then I realized there would be concerns and questions if I didn’t. So, here’s the big skinny: It’s a cool, rainy day here, and the kitty boys and I want to enjoy some catnaps. Just that, nothing more!

Post 1770: old toy, new toy…

Peacock feathers take a beating here. One or two plays and they are broken, shredded, chewed, pretty much ghosts of the magnificent things they once were.

“What if,” I thought, “I poke it through this empty paper towel tube?” Whoa! New toy!

Dougy in particular likes to dig for his “prey”, attracted to the movement under a towel, blanket or the recliner, so he really gets his kitty on when I make the feather act like an exotic snake, popping out of its paper towel tube hiding place. Rawr!!

Recyled peacock feathers extend the fun for my kitty boy used this way. Best of all, Dougy gets play in the way he likes to be amused. He pounces, he bites, he digs at the end of the tube, trying to pull the feather creature out for the kill. It’s great fun for cat and human!

Which end is more attractive? The quill end, so I’m very careful not to poke it out too fast or when Dougy’s face is too near the end. I’d feel terrible if I poked him in the eye.

=(^+^)=

[NOTE: Dougy used to be frightened by empty paper towel tubes. You know, kind of a “cat and cucumber” reaction. Since I started this peacock feather-paper towel tube business, he is the brave kitty boy, losing his fear of “The Tube Monster”!]

Post 1769: brotherly love…

Do the kitty boys get along together? Well enough, but they have their days, too! Surprisingly, they never squabble when it comes to food, but the recliner comes with elaborate rules for use, rules only the kitty boys know.

(Andy is the kitty boy on the left in all photos, a fact I find curious. It seems they almost always end up that way in joint photos.)

Post 1768: looking “hot”…

Andy gets questions about how he manages to always look so, erm, “hot”. Once more, he will share his beauty secrets. Pay attention. It goes by fast!

“There you go. Simple, eh?! You can do it, too!” Andy believes in positive re-enforcement.

“Any further questions?” Andy asks…

andy winks

“No?! Good~! You pay much better attention than the last ones who asked!”

Andy asks me to send you kitty kisses and “scritches” for your continued interest. Give yourself a treat!

Post 1767: rest day…

The kitty boys need a day of rest from bloggery. “What do you think we are” queried Dougall, “…circus performers?”

“Geez, Dougy, I thought you and Andy enjoyed showing the world what spoiled, pampered, lazy, insolent kitty boys living in America are like.”

“Don’t be silly, human guy! We are exactly the same as all kitties everywhere: lovable, clever, useful, playful furballs of fun!” countered Dougley. “So there!”

Then, just to demonstrate kitties control us, not the other way around, Douglas sat up and did one of those irritating kitty things: staring at nothing!

“Oh! Oh! Oh!” whined the scared snotless human guy, “There must be really scary spirit things only kitty boys can sense hiding behind the recliner!”

Dougy guffawed silent kitty guffaws and thought to himself, “Ha! Gotcha again!”

Post 1766: “I see youuuu!”

IMG_20180613_010443

As you can tell by the grainy texture of the photo, Andy is hiding under the computer desk, a dark place to be this early in the morning. Black cat in the dark. But I see him and it’s time for you-know-what!

That’s right! It’s time for Andy’s blood pressure medicine!

Post 1765: best friends forever, part II

There are more “evidences” of Rosie and Charles the kitty boy’s best friendship forever commitment. My friend Deborah notes this about her granddaughter Rosie’s ways to keep Charles in mind when he isn’t around to snuggle:

[T]his is a poster her uncle James gave her for Christmas.  She crossed out the irrelevant writing and put in “Charls” and made the eyes more orange to match her BFF’s eyes. It’s right beside her bed. [The poster is upper right, above.]

Deborah continues:

Rosie is out so I was able to verify the postcard under the pillow story.

[See the postcard in the photo above, left? Andy and Dougy wonder how anyone could doubt that Charles is worshiped by Rosie. “Aren’t all cats gods?” they chirp. Duh!

Post 1764: best friends forever…

My friend Deborah’s granddaughter Rosie and Deborah’s kitty boy Charles have something going on between them, as this note from Deborah details:

Rosie loves Charles so much that I now feel terrible when it’s time to leave.  She “took care of him” while I was at the monastery and when I came to pick him up, I could see she was not prepared to let him go.  So he sent her a postcard from Maine.

Charles loves the sun, too!

When I saw her this weekend she told me she sleeps with the postcard under her pillow so she can see it first thing in the mornings when she wakes up.  She had written her letter to Charles and promptly read it to him as soon as we arrived this time.  It will be hard for her again when we leave tomorrow— she was already fretting about it yesterday.

Little girls and kitties! Say it all together, now… awwwwww!

Post 1763: more hunting videos…

Once the horns are up, you know something’s afoot!

Yeah! This is more like it!

Flies get into the house from time to time. The kitty boys do something about it!

Yes, they cooperate with each other on the hunt, too!
