Post 862: a rare Dougy sighting photo…

The stealthy Dougy thought I didn’t notice him on top of Andy’s favorite perch, the blue carrier on the settee…! I had just enough time to snap off a shot of the miscreant before he made his escape.

Dougy violates Andy's space.

Dougy violates Andy’s space, sniffing around. Of course, more importantly, he leaves his stench for Andy for discover!

Curses, Dougy! I shall get you in a sharp photo yet, both eyes wide open!

Dougy slips away...!

Dougy slips away…! Sasquatch is easier to photograph.

Post 843: C’mon, boys! There’s enough of me for both of you!

Andy and Dougy adore me. Or at least they grovel and rub and purr and wrap their tails around my legs. Yeah, they adore me! And that’s a problem when both want my attention but don’t want to share me.

Andy's alarmed! Here comes Dougy to try to take the human away from him.

Never mind. Dougy decided he had cat business elsewhere. He walked past us and Andy got all the attention to himself.

Post 754: Andy has parking spot issues, too…

Maybe it’s the season. Andy’s having parking spot issues, too, with his brother Dougy.

Andy shoos Dougy away from his “parking spot”.

“And stay away…!” Andy has had it!

Post 749: Oh boy! Boxes!

Nothing gladdens a kitty’s heart more than new boxes, and the UPS delivery person made two very happy kitties by bringing two new boxes to the house.

Andy and Dougy can'ty believe their good luck! Two new boxes! All there's left to do is sort out who gets which one or who gets both.

Dougy hops right to it.

Dougy's first one in!

Dougy’s the first one in, and Andy has to wait his turn, if Dougy lets him have one!

Dougy hears something outside: Another box delivery? (No, false alarm.)

Back to business! Can't let Andy have a shot at the boxes!

And Andy has been thinking about taking over!

And Andy sees the boxes aren’t guarded…for now! He plans a coup!

Andy confronts Dougy. This box isn't big enough for two! And Andy wants it.

Dougy sends Andy packing!

Smug Dougy!

Smug Dougy! Andy’s gone for now.

=(^+^)=

Tomorrow, Andy regroups and gets his box. In the meantime, just so you don’t feel bad for Andy, here’s one last photo of the boys, each in his own box:

Dougy (on left) in his box; Andy in his. The boys worked it out, then Dougy ran off on cat business, leaviong both boxes to Andy. More about that tomorrow!

Post 737: Seriously, what was Dougy thinking…??

Andy’s a little guy, but don’t think he is a pussycat when Dougy steps outside well-defined kitty territorial lines! Yet he did just that.

It's obvious to all Andy's claimed not only the empty box here, but the over-turned wastepaper basket: "MINE!"

It’s obvious to all Andy claims not only the empty box here, but the over-turned wastepaper basket, too: “MINE!”

Yet even Andy has to take a break. So, despite Dougy’s presence in the room, Andy goes for a drink of water at the fountain. It won’t take long, he figures.

Andy out of the way, Dougy snoops at the box and makes plans to scrunch into it as best he can...!

Andy out of the way, Dougy snoops at the box and makes plans to scrunch into it as best he can…! There’s a saying: “When the cat’s away the…” Oh no, that was mice, not cat brothers! Never mind!

"No! No! No!" says Andy. Dougy gets caught in mid-snoop.

“No! No! No!” says Andy. Dougy gets caught in mid-snoop.

This won’t do! He gives Doug the “Screaming Mad Stink Eye that Makes Fur Fall Off Your Tail and Your Whiskers Take Off and Run” look all cats know is serious business. And Dougy knows it is serious business. Dougy heads on out, pronto! dougy gives it up for andy

Whew! Dougy got away with it this time, but only because he heeded Andy’s message. AND, though the magazines by the computer desk also are Andy’s, Andy can’t be both there and over at the box and wastepaper basket, too. Dougy plays his cards well!

One eye on Dougy and the other on the box, Andy verifies all is how he left it. Dougy's stink will leave soon enough!

One eye on Dougy and the other on the box, Andy verifies all is how he left it. Dougy gets away with the magazine matter this time !

Dougy once again finds out Andy is a tough little bugger when it comes to HIS things!

Must be time to feed the kitties. When I got up this morning — that is, when the cats got me up…– they both had innocent looks on their chops and all the wastepaper baskets were tipped over and rummaged through. They are not subtle!

Post 732: Andy, Dougy, and Doug are back…sort of…

What a nightmare! Both my PC and new laptop are back from repair, and virtually nothing works the way it used to.

G-mail is down. All Microsoft Office applications are down. Photoshop is AWOL. Ugh! How I got onto WordPress is a mystery. I typed what was in the search box “in case”. If I can get to the editable section of the blog, I can limp along with something, however rudimentary.

If you’ve stayed on during me disappearance from the Internet, bless you! I’;ll try top reward you with some happy cat stuff to make up for thew recent blackout. If nothing else, the boys and I had lots of play time this past week, and they’ve enjoyed having the extra attention.

But, hey! Here are some cat photos to give you something other than a tale of woe for today’s post:

It's been nice enough to open the back door. The boys liked that!

Happy cat! Is Dougy smiling? It almost seems like he is!

Of course, if Dougy wants to sit on the little red chair, so will Andy!

Post 679: small acts of rebellion…

Sougy hoped into the tub Doug (the human one) bought for Andy after Dougy had fits when Andy used Dougy's tub. Andy, of course, doesn't use it, but he doesn't let Dougy use it eaither!

Dougy enjoyed the sun and Andy’s tub. He was getting away with the unthinkable! Woo hoo! (Andy will smell his stink on the tub later and be upset. So what?!)

Doug contemplates the ultimate assault on Andy's sensibilities...!

Doug contemplates the ultimate assault on Andy’s sensibilities…! “What an insult, too,” Dougy purred.

Yes, he’s going to snooze on top of the blue carrier! (“Take that, Andrew James! Take that!”) Pfft!

Dougy sniffed around on the top of the carrier. He thought he heard something -- ANDY?! -- and he froze stiff!

Dougy sniffed around on the top of the carrier. He thought he heard something — ANDY?! — and he froze stiff!

Discretion is the better part of valor. Doug hopped off the carrier and had a mid-morning snack instead.

Sleeping on the blue carrier was just a step too far too soon! He values his tail!

Post 538: a slow Caturday morning…

Nobody’s moving much or very fast this morning. In fact, there is a distinct sense of a nap coming on.

Andy didn’t get his medicine until a bit after 9:00 AM. Not because he hid from me, but because I just wasn’t moving very fast. Then, when I realized I’d forgotten to take care of Andy’s medicine, I located him by the front door, lazing. He looked up at me, I reached down and picked him up. No drama, no resistance, even when I wrapped him in the towel. Oh, he put up token resistance when I put the syringe of medicine up to his lips, but even that was a lazy resistance, just enough to assert his disagreement with the act of being dosed.

He got his praise and treats, then went under the computer desk to that spot he likes to go when he wants to avoid capture, can see but not been seen easily.

Andy's hidey-hole under the computer desk.

Andy’s hidey-hole under the computer desk.

Dougy didn’t have much energy going either today, this slow Caturday morning. Oh, he tried to put on a show by scratching on the settee he knows he’s not supposed to rip apart but does, but it was just enough to show he’d been by, a show for Andy’s sake a few feet away under the computer desk.

Dougy looked back toward Andy to make sure Andy saw the show at the settee.

Dougy looked back toward Andy to make sure Andy saw the show at the settee.

But it turned out Dougy put on a show for a kitty that wouldn’t let himself be worried by some silly territorial business today. Dougy ran off to take a nap in the bathroom.

I think Andy moved a little bit. Mmmm. That tail switched, right?!

I think Andy moved a bit. Mmmm. That tail switched, right?! Yes? No?

A slow Caturday morning…. Maybe I’ll take a nap, too.

Post 534: Andy defends his turf

Dougy, Dougy, Dougy! You know Andy regards the blue carrier as his personal territory, so why did you try to take it over? (Oh, because it is Andy’s territory! I see!) In this little confrontation, Dougy appears as himself on the left side of the photos, and Andy appears as himself on the right. All the action is deadly serious. Andy will not suffer a usurper lightly, even if that usurper is his own brother!

=(^+^)=

a923

Andy hopped onto the carrier and just perched there. Dougy senses something’s up.

b923

Andy holds his place while Dougy contemplates what Andy will do next. There could be a confrontation: There isn’t enough room on this carrier for two kitties! (I know, I know! There are two kitties on the carrier, but we’re talking kitty logic here.)

c923

Andy makes his move. Dougy is shocked by the “Kitty Stare of Death” his beloved brother’s giving him! How can he!? Scary and threatening!

d923

Dougy gives as much as he is given. His whiskers are taut with intent. Andy seems to back down.

e923

Yeah! So he can build up a major blow on his brother Dougy! Dougy strikes back, but is caught mostly off guard. “I’m your brother, brother!” “Yeah, but it’s my carrier, brother!” >POW!<

f923

A startled Dougy holds his brother back.

g923

Andy makes his point, and Dougy scats.

h923

Andy isn’t about to leave things where they are: Dougy must die…or, at least, respect Andy’s right to the top of the blue carrier! He pursues his brother to finish the encounter in kitty style.

i923

He beats his brother up on the old computer chair, of course! That’ll teach him. For good measure, Andy chases his brother into the kitchen, then onto the cat lounger by the back door, where he gives him a little kitty claw action, a tooth or two.

=(^+^)=

For the record, no cats were harmed photographing this encounter, though Dougy’s a little wiser than he was first thing this morning.

Post 530: tactics and adjustments

Andy and Dougy get along very well together, but they are siblings. SIblings have to establish things like which one Mom loved best, who got the best toys, and whose tub is it anyway?

Yes, Andy invaded Dougy’s tub yesterday afternoon, took a short snooze, then hopped out when he heard his brother coming around the recliner. In the process, Andy knocked Dougy’s tub off that nasty box I haven’t been able to get away from Dougy, who loves, loves, loves it for play, topside, inside, and along side. Gad, it’s an eyesore! But I digress: Dougy had to make adjustments.

Tub's on the floor. Dougy decides it still works as a place to laze.

Tub’s on the floor. Dougy decides it still works as a place to laze. (I look forward to the day I can slip that box into the trash…!)

Comfy! But something's wrong here. Very wrong.

Comfy! But something’s wrong here. Very wrong.

Dougy snuggled into his tub for a short time, but it just isn’t the same experience when it’s on the floor! He was observed from the back of the front room. It made no tactical sense to Dougy to be comfortable on the floor. The whole point of the box is height, if only a little. Yeah, just high enough to pounce down on Andy when he walks by minding his own business. (Oh, sure!) POW!

How better to reposition himself to his advantage AND to get Andy’s goat? Take over Andy’s favorite perch, the end table by the glider. He made his move.

>SNIFF< Yep, Andy's been here!

>SNIFF< Yep, Andy’s been here!

In the meantime, Andy noticed Dougy making a tactical move…

Andy stealthily watches from the cat lounger. He can't believe his brother's effrontery!

Andy stealthily watches from the cat lounger. He can’t believe his brother’s effrontery!

"Mine!"

“Mine!” Dougy loves Andy’s perch!

Now it’s Andy’s turn to play tactics and force Dougy to make some adjustments! In the meantime, he decides to lounge on top of his favorite high spot, the cat carrier on the settee Dougy likes to scratch. “I’ll show brother…after I take a nap!”
