31Aug21: more Louie the ginger cat…

I tried putting a leash on Louie. He was out of it practically before I put him down! It worked out, though. Louie and I took walks around the compound. If you’ve never walked a cat, try it!

Louie’s tail wasn’t “floofy” like Andy’s, but it fascinated me just the same.

30Aug21: Louie in snow…

Yes, that’s the famous fir that every cat in the neighborhood loves because it is a favorite of birds as well! Notice I shoveled a path through a drift so Louie could walk over to the fir on his kitty business. My cats train me well!

Louie in snow. I never tired of his beauty, and this sequence documents his pretty head markings. To this day, my favorite kitty is the ginger tabby. Well, ginger tabbies and smoke Persians! Oh! Don’t forget tuxedo kitties! Heck, I love’em all!

29Aug21: Louie the cat continues….

Louie’s favorite hidey hole was the dryer.

The fated settee (Dougy “killed” it….) was Louie’s favorite place to sleep.

What cat doesn’t take over the keyboard?

The settee was a good place to watch birds in the fir outside the backdoor, too. This is my favorite Louie photo after the Captain Me-Ow photo….

What’s not to love about this one?

28Aug21: Louie came first…

I thought Louie was a female, so named “her” Lucy, after Lucille Ball. “She” arrived at the apartment in a carrier, and immediately walked around the apartment, opening all the cabinets and making the place “hers”.

When I took “Lucy” to the veterinarian’s to be spayed, the veterinarian technician picked “her” up and noted “she” was a neutered male! LOL! At that same time, the receptionist asked me for “her” name for their file. Quickly, I came up with “Louie”, after Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong, another Kool Kat! His new name fit, despite the haste with which I renamed him.

18Aug21: cats are a pleasure…

Another of my favorite videos of the kitty boys!

He was a wonderful part of my life for such a short time. Louie.

Cats are amazing athletes.

Andy let me know it’s time for kitty food!

Post 2166: Louie was bad…

louie in trouble

I have no idea why I was cussing Louie out that day. Maybe he was chewing on the flowers. I thought I’d lost this photo, but it popped up on Facebook Wednesday. It is one of my favorite shots of Louie the ginger cat. He was a great kitty, but died of lymphoma on August 1, 2011. As you can see, he was counting on plausible deniability to get out of trouble for whatever it was!

Post 2150: a full load…

Andy found his happy place some months ago…

…and if I’d only leave him alone, he could have a long snooze~! He took a four and a half hour nap after this series of photos was taken. The washing machine is a perfect kitty happy place, according to Andy, though I do make sure no kitty’s in it before I wash clothes.

louie in drier

Louie the ginger cat used to hop into the dryer for his snooze. It was a different combo washer-dryer. He climbed up there his last night. That was where I found his body the next morning.

Post 2119: sleeping cat styles…

louie asleep

My late ginger kitty Louie had a strange sleeping style…

…where his tail curled this way and he oftentimes pressed against a piece of furniture to nap.

Post 2019: over-worked…

You know I’ve over-worked the kitty boys when I have to dig into the archives for something “new”. If you’ve been around long enough, you know this kitty is Louie the ginger cat as his alter ego, Captain Me-Ow. Louie was a great kitty, and I miss him still. Yet, his death lead to me getting Andy and Dougy….

Before the kitty boys discovered the recliner back as a perfect place to roost and sleep, Louie the ginger cat made use of it.

Louie loved to take cat walks…most times! He was a rescue kitty and was used to being inside and out. Unlike Andy and Dougy, I could trust him to take care of himself . I did start walking with him, however, after I did it once and discovered he wandered farther from home than I realized: He needed a little supervision!

I had a lot to learn about cats when I first got Louie. For example, how to recognize a neutered male from a female cat…! LOL! Till I took Louie to the veterinarian’s to be spayed, I thought he was a female cat, so named him “Lucy”, after Lucille Ball, another red-haired comedian. (Louie was a comedian cat!) When the technician told me Louie was a neutered male, I was surprised, of course, but relieved I didn’t have to spend any money that day. But I had to come up with a name for “Lucy” more appropriate a male kitty boy. Yep! So I named him after another Kool Kat, Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong.
