Post 2028: thwarted…

He sniffs it but Dougy doesn’t want coffee, so what’s he up to?

Oh the torment!

He’s trying to figure out how to open the pill bottle to get to that silly plastic strip off the kitty dry food bag! (I put it in there for the kitty’s safety. I think they would try to swallow anything they chewed off,)

Post 2026: breakfast time is late today…

When it comes to breakfast time, Andy sees things in black and white. “None of this lazy bones stuff, Doug! Get up! Get up! GET UP!” Doug (the human) fell asleep in the recliner again, and Andy intends to make sure he doesn’t sleep through breakfast time…AGAIN!!

“He moves…” Andy notes to himself, “Maybe we get to eat…SOON!” A little color comes back into his world when he sees Doug (the human) move.

“He walked past me,” Andy thinks, “I bet he’s headed for the kitchen!” Andy’s feeling hopeful now. “Yummy breakfast time is nigh..isn’t it?”

Dougy puts a splash of despair on the moment. “Didn’t you see him go into the bathroom? You know what that means….” Rats! Yeah, breakfast will be a few minutes late today! AGAIN!

Post 2023: in which Dougy initiates a new toy…brutally

What’s this? Dougy’s interest is up.

It “flies” into his face, but Dougy doesn’t have his kitty on just yet.

Hmmm. Dougy thinks about this a bit, and…

Kill! Kill! Kill! I guess he likes it.

Post 2022: a blizzard day, doing what we can…

At 3:15 in the morning, it was blowing and piling hard! My neighbors have a huge snowdrift blocking their front door and car.

Of course, I see I have a whopper on the passenger side of my car, too. And another whopper passes in front of my little VW Golf Sportwagen and across the lane. Good thing I have no plans outside the house today!

Whew! Still blowing and that drift at 7:30 AM is roof high on the passenger side of my car…. You can see why I back into my parking spot when snow’s predicted. Remove the snow on the lane, and I should be able to drive straight out of my parking spot.

Here’s a better look at Lane 2, which is between my VW and the red pickup. Yep, under a huge drift! Can’t go anywhere today if I wanted to, so I settle down for a marathon of 1930s movies on TCM.

Why didn’t you try reading a good book?” Somehow this doesn’t look like a library scene….

Good thing Dougy’s sleeping. This movie is surprisingly hot for a 1930s movie! (Yes, no one reads a book, good or otherwise in this scene. Whew! This movie must pre-date the Hayes Code.)

Post 2021: snow day blahs…

Dougy’s having snow day blahs…

“Will a good skritching help, kitty?” I ask. Did I mention I opened the door so the kitty boys could see the blizzard? Dougy, of course, sneaked out and I had to step out into the snow to retrieve him. I think that’s why he’s blue. He was having a good snoop when I ended his fun!

We know a good skritching works well on Andy!

All red roads are closed because of the blizzard.

Post 2020: waiting for the snow…

Dougy love, love, loves snow! The forecast for today predicts 9-13 inches (23-33cm) of the stuff – in a blizzard. It will have a sheet of ice under it because the whole weather event began with an early morning rainstorm. Dougy is less enthusiastic about rain. Rain, he notes, is water. So is snow, I tell him. No, it is not! he retorts, and he is sure of that! Silly cat!

Post 2019: over-worked…

You know I’ve over-worked the kitty boys when I have to dig into the archives for something “new”. If you’ve been around long enough, you know this kitty is Louie the ginger cat as his alter ego, Captain Me-Ow. Louie was a great kitty, and I miss him still. Yet, his death lead to me getting Andy and Dougy….

Before the kitty boys discovered the recliner back as a perfect place to roost and sleep, Louie the ginger cat made use of it.

Louie loved to take cat walks…most times! He was a rescue kitty and was used to being inside and out. Unlike Andy and Dougy, I could trust him to take care of himself . I did start walking with him, however, after I did it once and discovered he wandered farther from home than I realized: He needed a little supervision!

I had a lot to learn about cats when I first got Louie. For example, how to recognize a neutered male from a female cat…! LOL! Till I took Louie to the veterinarian’s to be spayed, I thought he was a female cat, so named him “Lucy”, after Lucille Ball, another red-haired comedian. (Louie was a comedian cat!) When the technician told me Louie was a neutered male, I was surprised, of course, but relieved I didn’t have to spend any money that day. But I had to come up with a name for “Lucy” more appropriate a male kitty boy. Yep! So I named him after another Kool Kat, Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong.
