Post 1178: It’s Andy’s turn to visit his veterinarian…and he gets upset!

Andy went missing in the apartment two days ago when he and his brother Dougy had an appointment for shots and an examination. I rescheduled him for yesterday, and made sure he was available at departure time by putting him in the carrier right after I gave him his medicine. He was NOT happy!! And he had to wait an hour and a half in the carrier till it was time for his appointment.

Once there, he seemed OK, but he had a temper tantrum when they tried to take his blood pressure. Ultimately, his veterinarian decided it best to try in December. He’d examined Andy’s retinas (blood pressure will damage those….) and saw no damage, so waiting is safe! (That was great news!)

Shaving his foot to take his blood pressure, Andy started to get owly, hissing and fighting all the way. It took three of us to keep him down and somewhat calm…. sort of!101316 andys foot is shaved.jpg

In all, though Andy got upset, he was mostly a good boy, and his check up was good. You bet I set out some kitty treats when we got home! Later, I reassured him with some good, old “scritching”! 

Post 1177: Andy enjoys the Autumnal sun!

Andy is my sun lover. The sun coming in the computer desk window suits him just fine, and he’ll spend lots of time in this spot for as long as the sun comes in the window.

Post 1176: Dougy wants to play…

Dougy gets whiny when he wants something, and it works! After kitty food time – which both kitty boys really, really, really enjoyed!  – Dougy wanted more. He wanted to play wand toy

Post 1175: Dougy visits his veterinarian…and is a good boy!

Today, both kitty boys were to go to their veterinarian for an exam, rabies shot, and another one that I can’t decipher on the bill. One of them made it; the other was in hiding when it was time to go. Little does Andy know, he gets to visit Dr. Y. on Thursday morning, if I have to start a forest fire in his hiding places to get him to come out! Bad kitty! You’ll wish you were a good boy today like your brother!

Dougy got a good bill of health. Weight, heart, wiggly parts: A-OK! When we got home, Andy (of course!) greeted us at the door. I gave Dougy some kitty treats for being a good boy.

Andy joined me at the computer, ripe for snatching. Too bad I have to wait till Thursday for his appointment. He’s very available right now.

Day 1379: My boyfriend, Michael

Ann Kaplow recently had heart valve replacement surgery in Rochester, Minnesota, at Mayo Clinic. Her incredible resilience and good humor are an inspiration to me. Before and after her surgery, her blog has been one of those upbeat “must see” blogs on my daily reading list. Take a gander, and if you agree she is an exceptional blogger, give her a follow! Also, while she heals from her recent surgery, send her hugs and prayers. She is something else!

Post 1174: Boys, boys, boys! Take turns!

The foot rest on the recliner’s become the latest hot spot for Andy and Dougy. Both claim it. Neither has successfully made it his exclusive spot.

Post 1173: well, cats need their rest, fellow…!

Everyone knows cats need their rest. Sixteen or so hours a day seems about right, so don’t disturb kitty unless you want a visitor in the night!

Post 1171: Dougy stops by for “scritching”…!

Dougy knows where to go for a good time. When he sees me at the computer, he stops by because he knows I will stop everything to “skritch” him. Of course, if I don’t, he plops down on my mouse, and I have no choice but to stop!

Post 1170: birdies in the fir…!

My computer desk window is a favorite place for the kitty boys because there are trees outside that window that are particularly well-populated with seasonal and year-long birds. Yummy birds, no doubt!

Andy and Dougy are indoor cats, as I’ve mentioned different times, but they are kitty cats to the core. I have no doubt they’d kill wildlife if I let them spend time outside on their own.
