Post 1389: …and they know I’m leaving

Andy and Dougy are used to me leaving for periods of time. They watch, subtly, but beyond doubt. They pick up on clues like me taking a shower (Andy likes to watch), the clothes I put on, the fact I put on shoes (I am barefooted at home), and how I turn on Nebraska Public Radio to keep them company. They know I’m leaving.

What they do while I’m gone is a big question. I’ve thought about getting one of those motion-activated cameras, hoping there’d be nothing but sleeping kitties on the video when I view it.

More likely, they’d be chasing each other and tearing up things. I bet they are clawing the carpet and furniture, climbing the screens, and walking on the counters and dining room table. If they sleep, it’s on the guest bedroom bed.

Whatever they do, though, when I come home, they are waiting behind the door when I open it! Maybe they just know they are going to get kitty food (usually, depending on the time) or maybe they missed me. It doesn’t matter. I’m just happy to see my kitty boys again!

Post 1388: Andy guards his National Geographics!

IMG_20170509_040514

I put some National Geographics on the floor with the intent of sorting through them and reading those I haven’t yet read. The only problem now is Andy claims them for himself.

Yeah, and that’s the “they’re mine and I will slash you with my Death-Dealing Claws of Doom if you try to take them from me” look he’s giving me!

Post 1387: old buddies write…

IMG_20170509_013849

What a wonderful post card! Ms. Zulu (on the left) and Benji are well known to Andy and Dougy because the four did interviews with each other, and found that dogs are nice and so are cats! They became friends and are now old buddies. (Check out these interview links if you’ve not read them.) If only people came together the way these four did….

It did indeed put a smile on our mugs! Don’t the “woofies” look like they are enjoying a great time in the Pine Cone Forest? You know they are!

Post 1386: Andy and I now understand the Universe…I guess

Andy joined me to watch “The Story of Everything and Nothing”, an explanation of the origins and nature of the Universe. You know cats and curiosity!

Andy paid close attention. I was impressed!

“Geez, this is intense! Can you explain Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle for me, Andy?” It kind of went over my head. (He couldn’t, but I reminded him most kitty cats can’t! Mrow!)

Post 1385: solar cats

With the thermometer approaching the low 80s (27-28°C), Andy and Dougy (in the photo above) turn into solar cats, lounging where the sun shines. In this instance, Dougy’s on the cat lounger by the back door. Good solar choice, kitty!

Post 1384: Caturday hijinks….

“Dang! Too thin to cornrow…!”
Andy practices braiding on Doug’s hair, such as it is.

Dang cat! Andy continues to be fascinated with my head. I’d be OK with it if he’d keep those claws in.

Post 1383: fun stuff!

Coming…

I’ve always enjoyed mail time, especially when I get a letter or post card from a friend! Yesterday was such a day. The Salmon Brook Farms kitties and the Rosses sent me a lovely post card showing a field of  California poppies:Of course, as lovely as they are, what’s really fun is the message!

Thanks for the card, Lavinia, Rick, and kitty boys and girls! I really enjoyed your card! Of course, I also enjoy your warm, newsy blog and hope anyone who is unfamiliar with it takes a moment to read about https://salmonbrookfarms.wordpress.com/

Going. Have a lovely day!

Post 1382: “Please wait till I put it in the litter boxes!”

I open the box with the new litter. Dougy watches the outside scene, but Andy comes to snoop.

Now Dougy’s interest is piqued! (His horns start to emerge!)

Any new box brings the kitty boys running, but they have a special interest in litter: they can smell what it is!

Oh dear!

=(^+^)=

(Andy on left; Dougy on right and by himself in bottom photo.)

They have to examine, sniff, anticipate, paw, chew, and approve the shipment.

Then Andy notices the cookies on top of the other box, and he grabs it by the packaging. I barely catch him before he runs away with the molasses cookies!

Then I refill their litter boxes before they burst a kidney (or something!) waiting to use the new stuff! Of course, it takes no time for both kitty boys to “test drive” the new litter! It meets their high standards. (Whew!)

That’s what it’s for boys! Good kitties!

I am not compensated to show any of the recognizable brands in this post, and make no claims for their suitability.

Post 1381: table manners and bloody hell update…

Andy guards the catnip-flavored kitty treats, his favorite!

Dougy enjoys a table top view from this favorite bird watching spot.

Table manners are slim around here. Believe me, if you eat at my table, I first wipe it down and make sure nothing that comes in contact with food touches the table surface!

=(^+^)=

I know many people were alarmed by my “bloody hell” post, so it’s important you know the next time, things went exceptionally well.

Well, there was a trail of my blood on the sidewalk leading to the emergency entrance still…!

But this is what awaited me at the hospital! What a lovely Nebraska sunrise!

Aw spring! Even the dandelions are briefly welcome for the relief from browns and greys of winter!

Here I am – hooked up and preparing to take a snooze while my dialysis proceeds!

Or I can watch out this picture window to witness birds and bunnies forage and prepare to raise their first young of the year~! Woo hoo!

All is well in the world.

Post 1380: after breakfast, we lounge…

It’s all about routine with kitty boys. We don’t deviate. We don’t mess around/ we do things a certain way and at a certain time because we are kitty cats and we like order!

IMG_20170502_035129

Of course, we will play even when it means breaking away from order!
