Post 1339: What a busy day! The kitty boys go to the groomers and more…

I almost forgot the kitty boys had a groomers’ appointment for Tuesday. In fact, I was thinking it was for Thursday, but got a reminder from the groomers’ this morning. I managed to get them there on time, then took care of some other business while they enjoyed their bath and trim.

I visited my friends at the military museum while the kitty boys were at the groomers. That’s where I got the call they were ready to be picked up. I decided to bring them down to the museum for Suzie and Val to see with their new hair styles!

I didn’t let them out of the carrier, of course, because there are many places they could hide in the museum. The friends at the museum thought they were cute, of course,so compliments received, the kitty boys and I headed home.

Andy and Dougy definitely were happy to be home!

Dougy was naughty, of course, and got on the dining room table, where he continued his job of messing up papers and things. I was working on taxes, so really appreciated him being there checking things out!

Dougy didn’t miss much!

Andy stopped by to meow his desire for some kitty treats. He’d been a good kitty all morning after all!

Dougy was a good boy, too, so he joined in on the treats. (He’s in the upper photo in the upper part of that photo in this mosaic. I must have forgotten to take a photo when he was eating his treats, too.)

Post 1338: the brothers have a “discussion”….

So it goes. One cat wants the recliner footrest, so the other one decides he does, too. They are about to have a “discussion”, with emphasis on “cuss”!

Intense! Then one of them ran into the guest bedroom…Andy!

Post 1337: waiting, waiting, waiting…

You think being a kitty must be great stuff! Food on demand. A warm place to sleep. Toys. Videos for kitties. Yeah, life of Riley!

Then there’s the other side: you have to wait for the human to figure out what you want. Or worse. The human is deliberately ignoring you because you want something he thinks you shouldn’t have!

“Where’s Andy!?” The kitty boys had their morning wet food. Andy got his medicine and treats. Now Dougy wants his brother to play with him. (I think Andy decided to take a nap….)

Dougy gave up on Andy. Now it’s time to check out what the human has on his plate.

Rats! Nothing! Poor Dougy! This morning isn’t working out the way he hoped. Maybe it’s time to give in and take a nap. So he does. (later, the human and Dougy will have lots of kitty fun with the wand toy!)

Post 1336: …a surprise for Andy!

I have no idea where Dougy was hiding. Andy didn’t either and was yowling for Dougy to come play, the only time he meows with any volume at all. He’s a “soft-meowed” kitty!

I felt sorry for Andy. Dougy ignored his call to play and Andy ran around the apartment trying to find something to do. Or someone to do it with!

So, I prepared a surprise for Andy, poor kitty! He ran into the front room, clearly headed to check out the guest bedroom for Dougy. Halfway in, he came to an abrupt stop!

Slowly, he approached the surprise…

Yes! I stopped responding to comments to you, the readers, to turn the laptop over to Andy to watch videos for kitties.

Dougy who?? Andy enjoyed a few minutes of videos, then ran off to take a catnap on some dirty clothes piled by the washing machine. It’s a kitty cat thing!

Post 1335: Andy tried again today…

Andy managed to evade me all day yesterday and didn’t get his medicine. Today, my clever little bugger trapped himself him the north bathroom, where I just leaned over and picked him up! So much for his safe spot!

Andy, Andy, Andy! He is such a drama kitty when he knows he’s going to get his medicine!

But he “gets it” that he gets his kitty treats afterwards, so he settles down so he can get the medicine, then the treats.

Dougy picks up on what’s happening, and makes his entrance so he gets some good kitty treats, too, though he hasn’t earned them.

Please notice in the photo where Dougy licks his chops that his “kitty horns” definitely are up!

Post 1334: applesauce-blueberry pancakes and kitty mugs…

There are my personal Andy and Dougy mugs. I used them for coffee and mineral water this morning. Those were yummy applesauce -blueberry pancakes. Mmmm!

Just a reminder that the contest to identify Andy out of the 30 photos of Andy and Dougy is still on. It will end on March 21st, next Tuesday.

Further, a reminder that getting the most Andy’s right wins the Andy and Dougy mugs, but all bloggers who enter will get a review of their blogs on this blog. My hope is you possibly will gain a few readers through my reviews for your efforts, if not the mugs!

Dougy wasn’t interested in being a pet this morning, so played at being a meatloaf.

Andy, however, was cautiously interested in my empty dishes, but decided pancake syrup isn’t kitty food.

Post 1333: That darn Dougy…!

I pamper the kitty boys, really spoil them, and what do they do? Dougy, anyway? Never Andy, though, because I named him after the patron saint of Scotland and apostle, St. Andrew and he is a really good kitty boy…? Take a look! You will be scandalized, too!

Dougy looks, um, restless to Andy. Is that a hint of “kitty horns” he sees…?

Andy is suspicious. He knows his brother well. If he weren’t such a good kitty boy, he’d bet his brother is about to be naughty, very naughty…!

Dougy gets up. He’s about to get his “bad kitty” on, and it will be…

Andy is incredulous! Dougy just scratched on the recliner! No “good kitty” treats for him today.

Post 1332: “He casts a long shadow.”

One might speak of an important or significant person that he casts a long shadow. Andy mrows me that the same applies to minor international celebrity kitty cats, of which breed “His Highness” realizes he is!

I’ve had a few entries for the kitty contest, and the rules (which are as flexible as they have to be to assure someone wins the first prize…) now are that the winner is the one who submits the most correct answers first.

So far, the best entry is 14 correct out of 16 Andy photos. You may not know if you can top that unless you submit an entry! I will let you know how well you did as soon as I see your entry in my gmails, so you won’t have to wait till the contest is over.

Post 1331: a little contest, with a nice kitty prize…

I sometimes confuse Andy for Dougy and vice versa. The following suggestion by elizabetcetera made me think:

“Hey, I have an idea for a post for you. It would be contest with photos of Dougy and Andy having us guess who is who. The winner could get a mention of their blog or whatever small prize you could dream up. I have no idea how to tell these brothers apart!!!”

Yeah! Great idea and I’m doing it! The prize for the first person to correctly identify all photos of the kitty boys side by side and by themselves is this set of 11 ounce/ .33 liter coffee mugs/beakers:

There is no second, third, fourth or whatever prize since I’m a retiree and the two mugs plus postage to the winner will pretty much eat up my contest budget!

Post 1330: breakfast at 1:00 AM…

Daylight Savings Time change is a miserable time for me. The kitty boys want breakfast some time between 1:00 AM and 1:30 AM. In the Spring time change, then, they pester me to get up and feed them at a time my body still regards as between 12:00 midnight to 12:30 AM. More about this later….

Though I don’t get up that early to feed them, they come around to pester me till I give in. Dougy walks around and over me, swishing his tail on my face, kneading my shoulder. Andy just sits there by the bed, staring, staring, staring. Creepy! Then I give in and get up.

This will go on for a few weeks till we all adjust to the stupid change that doesn’t benefit us in any way.

Yesterday, Andy ate first and Dougy snoozed in the guest bedroom.

When the kitty boys don’t eat at the same time, the cat eating first tends to eat all of the kitty food, leaving none for his brother. Then I have to prepare a second meal as soon as the last-to-eat kitty finally makes his entrance. The first-to-eat kitty has to be discouraged from eating again so the last-to-eat kitty gets a meal. This is a common problem during the transition to Daylight Savings Time.

This morning, both kitties were in the kitchen waiting for me to wash their dishes so I could feed them. When I put the kitty food out, Andy held back while Dougy pigged out on the two servings.

Things continue to be messed up! Andy must have eaten some dry food when it was stomach time to have kitty food. He eventually ate some wet food.

Makes no sense. Wouldn’t cats used to eating sometime between 1:00 AM and 1:30 AM during standard time be eating sometime between 2:00 AM and 2:30 AM after the change to Daylight Savings Time? I’m too tired to figure it out.
